Our 6 month old having Standard poodle puppy collapsed on Sunday and rushed to vets. She is still in and having a Heart Scan later today, spoke to the vet a while ago and they think it is a PDA and can be corrected with surgery, at a specialists. We do not have insurance so will need to get a loan has anybody any idea of cost involved.

Sorry to hear this. Ask your Vet for an estimate, as vets prices are very variable depending on where you live.
Hope all goes well and you get something sorted. Have you contacted the breeder to see if it is something she has had a problem with before.

Thanks the vet is going to get in touch with the specialists and get an estimate, was just wondering if anyone had an idea while we are waiting. Breeder says she has never had problems before.
I would say several thousand. I had an ultrasound scan done at a specialist once and it cost me £500. So for a heart op, rough guess 2-3 thousand.
Sorry to hear about your pup . Just a thought but has she been checked for addisons disease as I believe this is common in the breed and can cause collapse . Whatever the cause I really hope she is feeling better soon .
Thanks, she is home now and seems fine. We have been told to restrict her to lead walks only and as much rest as possible. She has had a heart scan and further x rays which show her heart is very enlarged but the fluid has gone from her lungs. The vet is phoning a specialist to see how much an op and further tests will be but she seems to think somewhere in the region of 5 to 7 thousand !! I think we will see how things go she is happy in her self and the weather is much cooler.
