Our Westie's fur gradually turned pinkish over a few months, and we have discovered the cause.  We were giving him a hide chew every day.  He has a very strict diet so it was possible to identify this as the only difference in his diet.  We stopped giving him the chews and over a period of a few months and two haircuts, he is now back to full white fur.  Also, the pink licking patches left on a cover were impossible to get out even with bleach, but I managed to remove them with a couple of treatments of Vanish carpet and upholstery spray - brilliant.
