So do you all have your new clothes on today ?
We do as we don't want the birds to poo on us ! :)
This is something my family have always done , was wondering if others do the same.

Nope, can honestly say I've never heard of that before.
sent all my grandchildren their new clothes for the easter, and as we are out tomorrow decided to not bother going any where today we will be wearing our new clothes tomorrow.

Apparently the custom of wearing new clothes for Easter is to symbolise your new life with the risen Christ.
Amazing the things you learn on this forum. Never heard of this before.

I've never heard this before either. I've got new trainers on today...does that count? :-D

Suejaw Happy Birthday :) . Don't think it counts unless you are wearing the clothes today.
When we were very young one of our friends along the street never got new clothes for easter , we had a right laugh when she came to seek on us with her coat on and hood up on a lovely sunny easter Sunday , she was terrified she was going to get pooed on :) :) :)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Suejaw !!!
Never heard of the new clothes for Easter either
But then
we thought the Ice Cream Man was selling potatoes! LOL
I've always hidden the children's Easter Eggs and written riddles they have to solve before they can find them :-D
MIL always hid the Easter Eggs around the garden and gave the children baskets to carry their finds in :-D

Thank you Cani1 and Dill... I've had to work most of the day :-(
Just watched the most amazing sunset though.... Back to work again tomorrow(overtime pay) so can't be too picky.
I do however have a NEW dress ordered for the wedding on friday which if it fits i'll be wearing at WELKS!!! :-D
Hope the children found their hidden eggs before they started to melt today!I did not have a new easter bonnet, but I did have to bring out last years sun hat to wear whilst walking the dogs, what a scorcher. My very superstitious old aunty always wore new clothes and hat for church on easter sunday, now I know why!

Never heard of this either, but it was only the 2nd time I'd worn my new trousers, so hope that counts!

Nor me Karen.
We're obviously heathens. And where does the poo fear come from?
i was always told if a bird poo in your eye it was good luck , but the size of the seagulls around the coast where i lived if one had poo in your eye you would of lost your eye

Up to the age of about 10 always had a new dress and shoes for Easter, new hat too, as it was the only day of the year my family went to church. Never heard about the bird poo thing before! Does still get me annoyed when I hear about Easter Eggs being given on Good Friday and "Happy Easter" before Easter Sunday - hang over form a Chruch School education perhaps?
