For the first time ever, after many many years of owning and training dogs (only for myself and the family) I took my Border Collie for a session with a professional trainer yesterday.  Skye is 12 months old now and I have had her for 6 months.  I have taught her a lot of things but as I have never had a BC before I thought I would get some advice and pointers!  What a fab hour!  We thoroughly enjoyed it and Skye was just so clever!  I think I would have to rate Skye as 10/10 for her achievements and myself 5/10 as my memory is so appalling, getting the right instructions the right way round for a start!!!  We start pre-agility training next week and I am really looking forward to it.  Hopefully I'll manage to get to 6/10 next time ??!!  Is anyone else in this early stage training ??

hi,i have 2 collies,aged 2 years ,and 5months,both go to training classes,but that strikes me as a good idea,i think id really enjoy that,thanks for the idea!Oh,and youre not alone in getting things wrong,my trainer despairs,and often says-well,the dog got it right,but the handler didnt!Another case of"pitting your wits against a collie and being found wanting"!happens a lot round here!

Thanks for the reply colliepam.  You've got your hands full then with two youngsters.  I have arranged another one on one session with the trainer for next week again just to recap mainly on the 'down from a distance' but I start the preagility next tuesday.  I suspect my session with the preagility owners will definitely show my insecurities up!!!! Haha!

You will love the preagility training :-) I do agility with my GR and he loves it too :-)
