We have two day old pups, Toy breed. I've just noticed that one of them has distinctly green runny stools and when I checked the other pup, she was the same.

They were born on the 65th day, and were quite large for the breed. A litter mate was born dead and I couldn't revive her.

The pups have been quite active and seem to be sucking well. Mum is still a bit agitated but is cleaning them and letting them feed.

I am more used to larger breeds and don't remember any pups having green stools. Does anyone think this is an immediate problem? They are seeing the vet tomorrow for their dewclaws, but perhaps I should phone them tonight?  

Green stools I was told are due to starvation/the pup not getting enough milk, not had any experience of this myself.

If this were the case the pups would be restless and noisy.   Contented pups who are warm and 'fill the hand' are likely to be getting plenty of food ;)

This is where weighing the pups at birth and then every day at the same time can tell you if they are getting enough milk ;)

Can't remember seeing pups with green poos, but DS had Bright green poos as a (very) prem baby.  He was fine ;)

puppy poos are normally yellowish and look a bit like scrambled egg here ;)

Thank you Dill & Rhodach. Pups are feeding well and gaining too. I saw the vet today when he removed their dewclaws and he said the green colour could be as a result of the dam taking Synulox, or else some bile pigment coming out. If it continues for more than another couple of days, he recommended a little bit of live yoghurt, or maybe use a sachet of protexin probiotics. So we will see how it goes.

I must say, they are pretty quiet tonight after the dew claw removal, poor things.

my pups had antibiotics and their poops were bright green.
At first I thought it was to do with the diarrhea they had (why they had antibiotics) but the green poop continued till they finished the antibiotics so that was definitely the cause...
So I think your vet might well be right with the theory of mum having antibiotics causing it.

Thanks for that Noora. My bitch finished the antibiotics on Wednesday and the poos are gradually getting a bit less green. I've let them suck a little bit of probiotic goats milk yoghurt off my finger today so maybe that will help too. They seem healthy otherwise so hopefully their poos will be a bit more normal looking soon.
