Does anyone know how long it takes for the results of DNA for HC to come back?
Louise

We did the test for HC and posted it on 1 November, got e mail from them with result on 5 November and certificate by post on 8 November, so super quick is the answer.
Thanks for that, not as agonising a wait as hip-scoring then. With the swabs is it mouth epithelial cells they take?
Louise

Cheek cells, yes. Was so easy to do. Just roll the brush firmly on the inside of the cheek (at least 20 times) on each side of the mouth. Then do this another twice with the other two brushes. Air dry the brushes then pop the brushes into the paper envelope provided and go to the Post Office. It takes about 3 months to get the results from the AHT to the KC's website. I expect the results to be in the next BRS, which will make it 6 months since the test was done.
Did you do this or the vets? im capable of doing it myself, have looked at my own under the scope. Just prefer not to pay £25 on top for consult fee plus whatever she fancies charging me!
ETA Do you have any of yours patella and heart tested

You do the cheek swabs yourself and then send them off to the AHT, it was so easy to do, just make sure you follow the instructions and rub for at least 20 times each side to make sure you get enough cells. Patella tested yes, hearts not yet, need to find a cardiologist nearish!!! We don't go to the FBCoE Ch. show as it's just too far from up here. Some Boxer club Ch shows have heart testing, but I had Bronchitis when Scottish Boxer was on. I'm in no hurry as not planning a litter (still getting over the last one 15 months ago)!!!
Yeh i think the FBCoE is just too far for me as well although im quite abit further south than you. Can you run me through the process of the patella please. What age can they be done, my boy isnt 6 months yet but as its a new breed for me im still finding out. Need to find a vet that knows what they are doing. But some breeders are not forthcoming with such info so i have to try and find it myself

Have you read the French Bulldog Club of England's website re: Health Testing? It's very good. Our Vet tested the patellas using the Putman score as per FBCoE guidelines, he's very good. The forms (French Bulldog Patella Subluxation form) can be downloaded from the website, the dog has to be over 12 months and microchipped. Who's your dog? I'm presuming you didn't breed him as you say he's a new breed for you.
No i didnt breed him, bought him from a lovely breeder in wales. I need to find a vet that does the patella.
