GSD is 15 weeks now, she did have her ears up for a few days but it has now gone down , right ear is up, over the years my other gsds ears have gone up and stayed up She is called a wonkey donkey at the moment, anything I can do to help , thanks
She is still young yet , mine have had their ears go up and down for weeks sometimes it is connected with teething. Or tiredness. Some will always have soft ears I know some owners come up with all sorts including taping them up personally I would wait and see. Have also heard given them cottage cheese helps due to calcium I think but not sure if that comes from that old wife and her tales again.
My friends GSD took until he was around 6 months for his to go up and stay up, they didn't do anything for him and felt it was related to teething as FF has mentioned.
A friend's GSD is 7 months and still doesn't have his ears pointing up constantly. They do when he is alert but whenever he gets sleepy he has one up and one down. His owner's aren't worried as he won't be used for showing and their vet says it can take anything up to 12 months.
Hi and congrats on your new puppy. Leave her ears alone, they can go up and down and across her head for a good few months yet so don't worry. You could give her a big meaty bone to chew on which will help the cartilage to get stronger but you dont want to start messing about taping her ears, the results are not brill and you can irritate her ears and end up with infections.
They will probably go up and down a few times during teething anyhow. Enjoy the wonkey donkey phase, it's a precious time....remember to get as many photo's as you can :)
