Hi we are on day 59, she had me up last night to go out, bit loose but has gone again today, its yellowy..
Had a little breaky but doesnt want her lunch, goes to her box at every chance, spot of milk on teats...
Gone quiet so i am putting her back in my room for rest..

Isla went on to have 3 little girls early morning Tuesday day 60.
Mum being fantastic with them, and she didn't read the book...
Now should i expect them to loose a bit of weight first few days like our do????

it doesnt hurt them to loose some birth weight ,but ive only had 1 litter loose any and that was the last litter we had mum had 9 pups and only 8 nipples i was moveing them around all the time but mum didnt make a fantasic amount of milk with her being so poorly ,the more pups suckle the quicker her milk comes in ,all the best and congrats :) xx

Mine never lost any weight,they put it on.  mind you they hardy got off mum.

Thanks, i shall weigh them later as i didn't weigh them till later yesterday..
Mum is eating well, raw food and pups sucking well too, shall keep putting the little one on the back teats i think..

With such a small litter (if it's a medium size breed) I would expect them to maintain and gain.  I have found that it is the bigger than average puppies or litters where there is a slight loss the first day, regained by second day and then gaining from then on.

They are small breed under 10kg as adults, 3 pups two on the larger size and one a bit small..
The bigger ones have held there own but small one has lost a wee bit..
Still active and sucking well, will keep my eye on her.

I would make sure that the little one is always on a nipple every time your near the box get her plugged on even if she is asleep as she won't get as much as the bigger pups and tire sooner..

tilly had 3 pups last week, 2 larger one small, the 2 largest lost a little bit in first 24 hours, little one gained, think i was making sure she got teats closest to hind legs to give her the best chance.
one week on, all have gained weight nicely, average 100g each, very happy:-)

Bit worried with the little one, she lost the most weight, got vet coming to see them today.
I put her on all the time at the rear and she tries but doesn't feed very long..
Worried for her now :(

yrlance hope everything goes alright for you, just been through the same thing and my pup is looking great, ive sent you a PM incase you havent seen it yet :)

Have you got Nutro/vet drops, they will give her a boost of energy to allow her to suck for longer.

Make sure she is very warm as a cold pup won't digest any milk it takes in.

howe everthing going?

Very sad to say we lost the little one yesterday, broke my heart and i cried loads..
Mum and the two remaining girls are all thriving, just one of those nature things.
Vet came out to see them yesterday and she was fading infront of me all day, i just couldn't let her suffer any more..
Thanks for asking, its not easy, but i think everything happens for a reason and nature has her way of sorting these things out..

I am trying to enjoy the others, but she will never be forgotten, we named her Buttons...xx

Having struggled on with unthrifty pups for up to two weeks and then having to Put To Sleep, it is far better they are stillborn or die within the first few days.

Nature has designed species that have multiple births with inbuilt wastage, and all that survive to birth are not destined to live.

Try not to dwell as tit takes away the enjoyment of the others and Mum, and the tiem soon flies by.

I've got two and its lovely watching them together, you get to see the difference of one being naughty to get the other to play.  I've started playing with them now as well with there only being two of them.  Sometimes one doesn't want play and cries to mum (very funny) or need a change.

Sorry to hear that one didn't make it,may she RIP at the Rainbow Bridge.
