I did a TTouch session with a fab practitioner last year with one of my girls.
Whilst we were there he used the calming band on her & it worked brilliantly.
We were in his garden & because it was a new strange place for her & she does randomly bark in these situations, within a min. or two the barking had decreased enormously.  I believe it works because it makes the dog more aware when they do bark because of the sensation of the band.
Hope that makes sense.
I did buy one for the home but haven't needed to use it after using TTouch with her on a daily basis.

I got one for my overly sensitive SBT and it didn't make one jot of difference for her.

After seeing this post last week I went and bought a calming band, have tried spray collars and nothing has worked on one of our persistant barkers, collar arrived last Thursday and we have been in heaven. He has stopped going crazy when someone comes through the gate which means that the other dogs are also quiet, dosnt bark the place down when we are letting the other dogs past his run and will lie out in his run chilled, usually paces up and down all the time.  Going to order a couple more in different sizes.

This is interesting. Does the dog not claw at it to get it off?

I have a friend who has a dog who is fine in the house but a complete neurotic mess when its out and gets scared of noises etc..

they usually get used to it after a few minutes, because it is loose they dont seem to mind, though I do have one who can get it off so have sent for a smaller size for her, dont leave them on for long, find that once Toby is settled I can remove it and he will still be quiet. Toby as mental issues so am really pleased on how he has taken to this band, seems to have stopped all his worries and is less agitated. Ordered a body wrap/band as he is due to go to the vets for his vacs next month and usually he clings to my leg which makes it very difficult to walk, hoping this may help with some of his fears.

Not a band but Soli is in a very snug harness and t-shirt today (she is having a 24 hour ECG), and she is a heck of lot calmer - to the point that the neighbours she normally barks at on and off all day, she has ignored even though they've been literally screaming at each other for 2 hours in the garden.

Looking at the ilustration they are designed from something very similar that was around about 5 or 6 years ago. That version was elasticated & looked to be a bit tighter than thios one and covered more of the muzzle area, havent heard of that for several years, dont think they became very popular but I did see some refs of people trying them.
