well we have had two small meals in the last 5 hours, but no other changes in her behaviours

Have emailed 'Zylkene' to see if she can have this safely whilst feeding puppies.

How are things this morning?  Any improvements or idea what's going going with your girl.

Well we have two options from the vet point of view it's either the start of Eclampsia so just keep taking temps and keep a big eye,or she is just a bad mother.

we think it's either pseudo eclampsia (common in the breed) and now have her on a calcium syrup,  or possible some sort of post natal depression, but how do you treat that???

Has she had a walk at all. There was a bitch that had a litter to my boy, she was very depressed and agitated (Vet thought she may have an infection). I asked the owners if she had been out and they only had her in their garden. I suggested taking her for her walk with the other dog they owned as long as they didn't have strays around where they lived. They text me an hour later to say she had been wonderful and come back happily to her pups. Don't know if this would work with your girl or whether she has been out off the premises. I know some won't agree with this but it works for me and others.

I thought of this but didn't suggest it for the reason you mentioned.  i agree with you it could help.

I don't see the harm in treating for eclampsia as the recovery is very quick and it would rule it out.  Your poor girl is having a time of it.  Are you putting Glucose in her water?

Vet advised us to give her a walk on Friday we did and it made no change to her, she has been out again today but again no change.

I saw the breed before it was edited out.  I could be wrong but I am pretty sure I have read that this is a fairly common occurance with this breed and that many breeders only put the bitch in with the puppies for feeding.  Are you a breed club member?  Perhaps seek advise from stud dog owner if they are more experienced that you or the breed club.

We have rode out the last 3 days now the calcium seems to be kicking in, she has not attacked the pups in the last 24 hours and has relaxed more and more as the day has worn on, so fingers crossed we are getting back to normal.

She has also started to lose dark red discharge so perhaps that has made her feel uncomfortable, I believe this is normal a couple of weeks after a C section.

Glad she turning a corner, what a relief for you.  Sound like it could have been the calsium?? maybe.

Can't remember the colour of the discharge nut as long as it doesn't smell.  If you book it will more than likely tell you in there if no one comes a long soon.

If you have the same breed as me then yes this is very common and vets dont seem to pick it up thats why we always have calcium to hand straight after whelp! I am very lucky that my vet believes me when I say they are different LOL!

Glad she is turning a corner......this sounds like the exact same that my bitch did.
