Hi all

I recently discovered a lump on my dogs (9yr old Boxer) stomach. It is quite hard to touch and around the size of a half marble. It has not bothered her in any way but we have just found another one on her back. This lump is under her fur and is much smaller but again not seeming to bother her.
Does anyone have any ideas what they could be so I am ready for what the vet tells me!!

Probably just fatty lumps - can you feel all around and underneath them, or are they within the muscle? They're probably harmless but it's certainly wise to get them checked, just in case.

Could be Mast Cell Tumours as a breed Boxers are high risk for these.
Vet's might try to aspirate them and send off for results or they may opt
for removal (with good margins) and send off for pathology to see what you
are definately dealing with.

They grade MCT's
Grade 1 - OK
Grade 2 - can go either way
Grade 3 - Most serious

My old girl has had these and they were removed.
Her's were grade 2's any lumps discovered now have to be aspirated.

Yes. I can feel all around them. They are deffinatly not attached to any muscle!

Old dogs are prone to lumps and bumps so that's probably all they are, but it's always best to check them at the vet. Hope all's well!

Most likely to be just cysts if their only in the skin.
Can you feel right under them by picking up the skin slightly.

My old Girl Pepsi is full of lumps. She has had some for years. When she was younger as they appeared I had them looked at. All fatty and not a problem unless they grow large enough to interfere with her life...they don't...
How ever some lumps are not so inocent. They could be fatty or could be something more sinister. They need to be looked at by a vet in order to be sure. In a younger dog I would have them checked out.
We have taken the desision now Pepsi is 9 that even if a new one appears we will leave well alone as at her age I will not be subjecting her to numerous tests and operations even if it were cancer. She is happy and not in pain so we will leave her to enjoy her old age in peace. The average life for a Bernese is about 8 years so Pepsi is to be allowed to grow old with grace now. If She had a problem with one and it was effecting her quality of life then we would look at having a vets opinion on what to do. While they do not effect her we do not pester her.
