IF Greyhound is the answer to 5. What are the other 17?
I have always been told that the only animal faster than a greyhound/whippet is a cheetah B U T it all depends on perspective ie what distance are we talking about?
A Greyhpund/whippet will outrun a racehorse over for example 50yds from a standing start but over a furlong the horse would win. Likewise with a timed run, as in car landspeed competition, the horse would win.
A whale will be faster than a greyhound travelling across the Pacific! (Unless the Greyhound is travelling by boat or plane!)

Thaanks folks. I don't think it is greyhound as the breed standard says it is second fastest only to cheetah. Also whales don't count as it is land animals. Any more suggestions?

Bas- means "Low".... Basset is a description used for "Low to the earth" :) It's more of a slang term than actual literal meaning ;) :)

NCDL & Greyhounds states "The breed's incredible running speed (it is the 18th fastest land mammal) has created a lucrative industry based around gambling on the outcome of organized races."
Ergo, that's the answer for that one... next? :P ;) :)
