I have just received an email from someone looking for adult females, the name looked familiar and I found it on the KC puppy register with 2 unsold litters.

I politely replied that if I ever had the need to rehome any of my adult females in the future they would be spayed before they left me.

Have any of you had such requests and how did you deal with it.

I have only had to rehome 2 bitches in 21 years. Both went to people I knew so I didn't need to give them the third degree ;-)

I think that you did right in telling them that any bitches would be spayed prior to rehoming, this will put off people looking to get brood bitches on the cheap.

I had a few enquiries for my last litter that were suspicious, I advertised due to having more puppies than homes (big litter with more girls than boys) I now always google all enquiries telephone numbers, email addresses and now search email forums for my breed with names & emails which has thrown up a few anomalies in peoples stories!. There was 1 number recently that threw up 2 litters on a well known puppy selling site (at 2-3wks of age) & another litter of different breed on a freeads site :0(. I dealt with it by sending an email to them stating they were not deemed suitable for one of my puppies and informed other breeders of my findings.

The person lives fairly local to me and my breed in this area is a rarity which is why I had spotted it on the KC puppy register.

Will try googling details
