I have a 14 week old GSD, got her from accredited breeder from CD, as yet I am still waiting for the Kc papers to come, I have pups reg number but breeder had to apply to have her affix put on the end of puppys name, hope that makes sense, what bothers me is she was microchipped the day i got her but i have no papers to say so, if she gets lost or stolen i have nothing to connect her to me, advice would be helpful.

Hi.........I have to be honest I had a major issue with a very similar thing......did you not get the green carbon copy of the Petlog paperwork ? This will have the barcode on of the chip and I called Petlog direct to tell them I have taken ownership of the puppy and they put it on a temporary account until I got the paperwork........if you don't then I would call KC and give them the puppy's reg number and date of birth.....they may try to say they can't talk to you about it as strictly speaking the puppy does not belong to you yet until you have the paperwork to change ownership....but speaking from experience keep calling and calling.........and just make them aware all you want is to register the petlog details.......trust me don't give up...........my saga is on the General forum " Unable to get KC paperwork from breeder" you will see that if you persevere you will get through...hope this helps !

Very strange, the affix of the breeder goes at the front of the dogs registered name at time of registration so don't understand that bit.
Any time I have had a dog microchipped I have come home with paperwork and extra sticky labels for my records and then got more info in the post at a later date.
I would ring the breeder up and ask for some idea as to when the paperwork is going to be with you
The breeders affix will be at the front of the puppies name, an affix is added to the rear after purchase if say you had an affix you wished to include, so hopefully you just have that the wrong way around. :-)
If she was microchipped the day you got her the breeder should really have given you the slip to fill in with your name and address to send off, if she hasn't done that and filled in her own name you will have to wait for her to sign over to the new address, once processed.
If your pup is stolen or missing they will contact the breeder in the meantime and she will have to contact you.
Can she give you the microchip number at least? I guess then if anything were to happen you can also leave details at vets, rescues etc local to you, though the breeder still would need to be contacted.
Posted in unison ;-)

Not sure if it has changed, but it used to be that at times you could put your affix at the end of each pup under certain circumstances. (It might have been if you had bred both parents but didn't own the mother.) For instance in my breed there is a litter that was jointly bred by two people. One had an affix, the other did not. That entire litter have the affix of one of the breeders at the end of their names and no affix at front. They're about 12 years old now.
Then of course even longer ago you could have your affix either at front of end, then that was changed. Simple example, a wellknown Golden Retriever breeder that I had two dogs from named all her pups xxx of Yeo. She then had to change that when the rule was changed so all pups were Yeo xxx instead.
Could be either party has misunderstood.
You learn something new everyday. :-)
Woodsford - did the people breed the pup themselves or is the pup a "stud fee" puppy? That could explain the addition of the affix to the end of the name?
HI I have the microchip number, if i have this right she is the breeder but not the owner.but was in the process of buying the bitch.
update, have just rung pet log they have no details of her, have given them chip number so they are aware of her now and heaven forbid i lose her or she is stolen they now have my details, now i have to try and get in touch with breeder which i have been doing but no answer, I thought all this would be plain sailing but now its a worry, many thanks for your advice

Did you get your Purple folder from the breeder?
Your supposed to have the registration or a letter confirming it will be forthcoming, pedigree and various other required items such as grooming advice, worming details etc.
You should also have a report form to send to the kennel club, so use it if the service is not what the scheme insists on.
You should contact the kennel club Accredited breeder section if the scheme rules are nto being adhered to.
The scheme needs the feedback to work.
