Topic Dog Boards / Breeding / bitch on day 19

My bitch is on day 19 of her season. She stood from day 8 - 16 but it was the males first mating and he didn't manage to do his bit and days 17 - 18 she turned on him if he even looked at her. This morning (day 19) she stood for him again and he did his bit but there was no tie. Is it possible for her to conceive without a tie? Also, is it normal for a bitch to stop standing for 2 days then start again as when i bred from my old bitch they tied on day 11 and she stopped standing on day 15 and wouldn't let a male near her after that.

Very possible indeed for pups to be born with no tie

I know of at least 5 bitches which have conceived without a tie and only one slip mating, one bitch had 9 puppies from slip mating

we are now 30 days after the slip mating and my girl has turned into a nightmare. She has gone from a happy, sociable girl into a grumpy, snappy terrier. She only has issues with my entire male and has no interest in my neutered male or girl pup. Every time my boy moves she attacks him quite badly (they are now separated) and she has also started trying to dig her way out of the garden. On walks she is still ok with other dogs so i cant understand why all of a sudden she wants to kill her "husband".
I have her booked in for a scan on friday and just wondered if anyone thinks this behavior could be due to her being pregnant or just still hormonal from her season

She will be looking at him as a threat to her unborn babies. Whatever you do don't leave them alone together until long after the pups are born and gone to their new homes.
