Does anyone know where I can buy a brown/tan dobermann puppy, preferably in the North East of England

Welcome to the board,

I'm unsure of all the rules but my understanding is that breeders would not be able to contact you on this board to advertise their pups, however, if you register here (it's free) put your post on the breeders board and leave a private e-mail address for them to contcat you on, then there are many poeple that own or breed dobes on this board and I'm sure they will help you in any way they can.

Be prepared for the Spanish Inquisition though - no breeder who's worth their weight will sell you a pup until they know exactly why you want one/what facilities you have/time to spend on pup's training etc etc. If you've done this before then I'm sure you know what I'm banging on about!

Thanks LadyG I will try, I have made a contact in Kettering but would hope to locate nearer to the North-East.

Dessie, thanks for the concern but I have owned 2 dobermanns in the last 16 years and just lost the most recent on boxing day. There really is no other breed I would consider. I am a dobe addict.

Sorry Jaffa

Have you contacted any of the Breeders listed with Champdogs http://www.champdogs.co.uk/guided/working_dobermann_breeders.html

Dessie

I have sent out a couple of e-mails to several breeders listed, though not all of course. Ive had a couple of replys, nothing doing so far, except in Kettering, but they are going to make enquiries and let me know. The urgency is though that my other dog, a black lab x is pining for her best friend. Im keeping my fingers crossed.

Did you try Aritaur. There is a lovely Aritaur Brown and Tan Dobe over here in Guernsey.

Also various Dobe Clubs come up if you do a search in something like Google.

I know the sire of the latest Aritaur litter, and my friend and neighbour has just got a dog pup, as the sires ownere is a personal freind.

My friend has lost two of her dogs recently, a young and old one within three weeks of each other, and her other oldie is on literally her last days.

It was a hard decision, as her young bitch, bought as company for the 5 year old male she recently lost, (as she knew the two oldies had little time left), is only 16 months. the young bitch is beside herself with joyover the new pup, and has to be kept away from him to allow him to sleep:D

Sadly the remaining oldie, who was given a month to live in February, is losing her battle, and I would think it won't be much longer before they have to make the sad decision.

Thanks for the pointer. After looking at the site I contacted Aritaur. They do not have a litter at the moment, expecting one in February, but they will make enquiries around and about for me. So I am very hopeful. Will let you know. Cheers. Our rescue lab x is not eating very well at the moment, no reason other than pining, but as she is diabetic its rather a worry.

Jaffa (ps this was the name of the chocolate/orange!!! dobe we just lost)

Hi Jaffa

Glad I was able to help :D :D

This boy over here is gorgeous, very well marked and very gentle with my Cockers :D :D

Fingers crossed for you and hopefully the old lab x will soon pick up.

Hi Guest

Have a read of this first and see if a Dobe is really the right Breed for you http://www.champdogs.co.uk/guided/working_dobermann_breed-guides.html

Hi Jaffa - so sorry to hear of your loss. I have two Dobes myself so can understand your addiction LOL My two are inseperable already so we know we have started a very long line of keeping Dobes!
Aritaur do produce some lovely pups and Jay Kershaw is very helpful - She was great when I was looking for our most recent addition. Christine @ Kerioak also has Dobes (who has left a message here for you) and is also a real diamond :) and is a bit of a Dobe nut and has probably forgotten more than I'll ever know!. I also know that Viemar Dobes are expecting a litter any day now (but that may be a bit long for you to wait)
Are you desperate for a puppy or would you consider re-homing an older pup/dog?There are always dogs looking for good homes usually through no fault of their own so it may be worth a thought.
Good luck! :) Sign up and keep us all updated - there are quite a few of us Dobe nuts out there

Hi Salem

The pup I had in mind when Jaffa posted has now gone and I am only aware of some that are not actually on the ground yet.

Hi Salem
Thanks for the kind words. I have spoken with Jay Kershaw and she is making enquiries for me to try and locate a litter, as I particularly want another brown/tan dobe bitch. We all really miss having her around, especially our lab x. She isn't eating well and follows me around all day, just moping about, I wish I could explain to her. I guess we could rehome an older dobe but would prefer to get a pup right now and maybe think about this at a later date. Fingers crossed, something will come up.
