Hi ,

Went to a friends house the other night and had great fun on her wii dance game. Thought it would be a fun way to keep fit and less expensive than going to the gym. But I am not very savvy with all this technology stuff so need some help.

Does the dance game go with any Wii console as I have heard of Wii fit or something. Is this just another game or a different sort of console? Have seen a second hand one on ebay but dont want to go buying the wrong thing!!

All help very much welcomed! :)

The Nintendo Wii is a console.

The Wii Fit is just a 'game' (of sorts) that you play using the Wii Console and some additional peripherals (balance board...which you buy as part of the package with the 'game').

IME, the Wii is fun but is no substitute for proper exercise if you have particular fitness goals in mind.

i use the wii for my fitness and use it on the biggest looser programme i have and i have lost over a stone and half since xmas with this, i use the board and the wand sometime together and sometimes alone,
we had the wii for a couple of years as it was my daughter and then my hubby bought the fitness board and the wii fitness game so everything can be bought seperatly or as in a package have alook around sometimes you can get great second hand consoles from the gaming shops

Hi Judgedredd, what's the biggest looser programme?  I have wii fitness, but don't think it's that good, so wondered what this was like.

Thanks

Simone

i have the us version of the biggest looser,
you get a step by step guide  to start you off, and menus and tasks to do each day you can set the programme for a month to start with you can either use your own scales at home to weigh yourself or use the wii board and then you get set with your trainer and do exactly what they do so just copy them for your exercise routing and at the bottom of the screen you see a calorie burner and that tells you how many calories you have burnt doing the routines, also you have about 60 plus different routines that you can do whenyou do not have a training session booked in.you can set the level of exercise routine you want from easy up to difficult with the calories they set the calories you eat not what you eat and each day i just write down my calories and when i log on i load my calories up into the different sections breakfast, lunch, tea, snacks, drinks, restaurants and it adds all your calories up and lets you know if you are under eating or over eating, your calories are set monthly and will be adjusted according to your weight.
You have a weigh in everyweek and an elimination round and a task to do the task could be one of the five they set you on screen and there are 7 other contestants and you have to beat them and as the weeks go by you get down to the last two and get crowned biggest looser, i have done the monthly one since xmas and the results have been fantastic, but at middle of march have gone for an 12 week programme and they have upped my exercise regime to harder than i was doing and it is harder much harder and i love it.
if you need any more info just ask and i will try and explain it

So what sort of exercises do you do?  Is it like aerobics with music?

Thanks for the info, sounds interesting, but don't know yet if it's for me.  I really liked the idea of the step on the wii fit, but found it too boring and didn't give enough of a workout (which is what I felt about the wii fit disc in general).

i use the wii fit disc as a warm up and then do my biggest looser, you do cardio, yoga, core exercises i also incorparate weights on my legs and you may think that is easy, but you have 5 symbols that light up at the bottom of the screen if you are doing it correct and you may only get one if your posture is wrong or you are not working out hard enough.

it might not be for everyone noticed that there is a new wii exercise out with a web cam attachment and that comes with a box of stuff to go with it like bands and stuff to do resistance exercises and that is also a work out with a trainer but not got that or know of anyone that has one to see what that is like.

I have just tried The Biggest Loser U.S trial version on the x box connect OMG! I can see myself in the bottom corner of the screen and it doesn't count if your outline is not the same as Bob or Jillian. I will be asking for the full version for Mothers Day so I can torture myself daily. X box plus connect is not that much more to buy than a Wii and board and imo so much more fun.

just to say your figure on the biggest looser i have starts off fat and when you get weighed in everyweek you see the weight starting to come off your on screen figure

Thanks for the info, I'll have a look at that and the new wii fit that's out.
