Hi There I just wanted to introduce myself as a new member. My names Roxanne (just call me Rox though!!) I have been trying to look for a forum to get to know people in the same boat as me and also for any advice. Everyone on this forum seems so supportive and friendly. I have been to a few other websites and some of the members are so rude and scary!! My bitch Honey is on day 52 and I'm very excited and scared the pups are moving around and mum seems happy and healthy. I just wondered if anyone else was due a litter around the same time as me?
Hi Rox,
Welcome to Champdogs.
Not long to go before pups arrive...sleepless nights for a few weeks then:)
No pups on the way here but Im sure someone will be here to help you soon:)

Hi Rox
You are ahead of my girl she is due around the 15th April :))
I have been watching the last few litters on here, its great to follow and really helps with what to do. Got whelping kit all ready just thinking of moving my girl upstairs with me at night now..
Good luck Yvonne x
HI rox I have not got a litter due but going to stud in 10 days I know how scary it all can be this will be my megs third and final litter I've had one good experience and one bad and the people on here were really supportive and there advice is invaluable. the studs owner is also very helpful when I get nervous wouldn't do it without her.hope everything goes well for you.

Hi rox, my girl is,due 11 th april, her first litter and doing well, we are excited and nervous also. Have you got all your whelping kit ready? Mine is a toy breed so not expecting a large litter, this forum is lovely, ive had lots of questions and everyone is helpful, i know what you mean about other forums, could put you off altogether! Clare.
Hi All, Honey is due on the 9th so practically same time as you Clare!! Technically this is my second litter. The first was with a different bitch but it was a complete horror story. There was only one pup which was so big it got stuck and had died before I made it to the vet. I was absolutely in pieces especially as I had asked to have her booked in for a c-section after she had had an x-ray and they refused. She was spayed after that as I couldn't bear the thought of her going through that again. Honey is a small utility breed and the scan said about 2/3 pups but I don't put any trust in scans. I've bought sooo many things for my whelping kit so far but still need to get some welpi and also get some of the drops for helping them to breath (can't remember the name at the mo!) I took a big box from the supermarket for whelping but I've been so excited I went and bought a proper plastic one and loads of vetbed bedding!!

Welcome
Dopram V is what you are wanting to stimulate the breathing, it is in short supply at the moment, I am waiting for some to be delivered I ordered last week.
I hope everything goes better than last time.
my girl is due 11th april aswell :) but she is sooo big already i wouldnt be suprised if she goes a day early

I sn still waiting for my hyperdrug delivery, may email them sd a little concerned! Hiw lo ely, is there three litters due then? I felt puppies moving tonight. So lovely, obsessef with listening in on heartbeats. She' s been fussy with food. But loves chicken and ham so getting plenty of that. She eats better than me :-)
Hi all. Ive just been looking at Amazon for "The book of the Bitch" everyone recommends it so I'll put my order in today. Will do an order to hyperdrug too while I'm at it. The pups are moving around quite a lot, Honey's mammaries are really dropping with VERY dark nipples. 3 of us due around the same time? How exciting?! lare 73? how long was it since you ordered from hyperdrug?

Hi, l have just noticed on the Petmeds site, that they have Dopram V in stock @ £16.02 plus, l assume, P.& P.
brilliant thanks for that Jaycee x

Hi Rox
My current litter is now 10 days old (all reserved) - it's a scary time, keeping fingers crossed for you that it all goes well. I was lucky with having big dogs for first litter and it was an easy delivery - had more difficult ones since. This litter were fine once we got the first one out - fortunately head first as the bag had broken and it was a tight squeeze - took two of us to push and pull (small bitch so no room for finger nail let alone anything else) but fortunately we had 6 live and healthy pups, sadly we had 2 still born pups right at the end but a huge litter for a small dog. Penny
Mine can feet first, i nearly had a dickyfit when i saw them moving, lol. Wasn't expecting that. It was absolutely wonderful delivering them and seeing my girl love her baby. Nothing like it (well where animal birth is lol).
Good luck with it all. Think there was four of us at the same time, not heard from one of them for a few days.

I emailed Hyperdrug today as I have been waiting for a week for my order which includes Dopram V. The reply came back that it is "out of date" and they have no expected supplies due in! Oh and by the way, would I like them to send the rest of my order!! I was not best pleased as I had checked at the time of ordering that it was in stock and they said yes. Their website is still showing it as 'available'. Pity because I've used them for 6 years now with no problems.
I'll be picking some up from my vet tomorrow instead. Wonder how much they'll charge me?

How strange, after our exchange of emails with Hyperdrug today we phoned them and they definitely said they were not expecting any Dopram. Maybe we got the wrong person! Good luck anyway, hope yours arrives.
oh dear did my order today and need it for next week. I'll give them a call tom see what they say otherwise I think the vet may be a good idea for some x

You might have to do what I did and phone your vet. Ours has some and I can collect tomorrow. Not sure what it will cost as we've always got it from Hyperdrug before. Still I'll find out tomorrow!

Let's hope that you get a fast delivery, and that you are a super duper speedy reader. Your dog could viably whelp in 3 days. I would have read TBOTB a dozen times since the bitch had been mated.
It is so important that research is done properly before mating bitches, and you have left this a little late in the day. I would rather go to PAH and pay full price, than risk not getting it.
We are on Day 54 here all excited and everything prepared
Expecting her to deliver on day 58 as she is quite large and a first timer

I am all ready here too, read the book several times, watched dvd several times, got whelping box and every thing to go with it......
Got a couple of weeks to go but i like to be prepared, after having 4 kids to sort out i think it has rubbed off....lol only got 2 teenage boys at home now, easy...
Good luck and i hope it all goes well for you and girlie too..
Yvonne xx

I too have emailed re undelivered order, not heard back yet, will try ringing them later.
Yes the TBOTB is very definitely the book to read before contemplating breeding, easy to read and understand, I also read any breed specific books I could get my hands on.
I also bought a very old book from Amazon recommended by my mentor, it was printed in 1953[ 2 yrs before I was born] and was so funny but also informative as it spoke of the authors experiences in breeding in the days when the female was boxed up and put on the train and had to be picked up at the nearest station and returned the same way and the antics of dealing with an unknown female in a strange place.

Dday 52: tilly lazy and loving, puppies active, im trying to remain calm, almost ready, still need dop v, what day should i start taking temp? Had different suggestions, so be nice for your views, thanks.
I did do as much research as I could before mating them and to be honest this is the first website that I have come across that has plugged the book of the bitch so much. I was studying animal science at uni and they have a really good library but I don't remember seeing that particular book there but it may be that the books they had were more biology based which is great but I think advice and support from people like you guys is invaluable and I have watched so many DVD's I swear I have square eyes now!! . I know my vet has got the last couple of things that I need but I assumed that as Hyperdrugs website said in stock I wouldn't need to get it from the vet. Not a problem I'll pop down there today. We're on day 54 from 1st mating, she isn't really showing any changes in behaviour apart from sometimes she will just hide herself in a corner for ten minutes or so. I think I may start sleeping downstairs from tonight especially as my other two dogs, this morning seem to be picking on her a bit. What do you think?

Latest I have one Dopram V order is the delivery failed and its expected now on 1st April ( not guaranteed)
Diane

Have just ordered Dopram V from hyperdrug expiry date 07/2011 price £12
Thats the one I ordered too. Phoned them today and its out of stock so cancelled and got it from vets instead xx
(litter due 9th/10th April)
Placed my order begining of last week for Dopram V plus other items from Hyperdrug, had a phone call yesterday saying it now won't be available until November 2011, they gave me a refund and i recieved the rest of my order today, vet won't supply me with Dopram V, will need to take pup to them if a problem, will make sure i have a small bottle of Brandy (for pup/s not me) in just incase, old fashioned method but got to be worth a try as a stand by.

I have mailed hyperdrug today and they have just sent me a mail back saying it is now in stock and my order will be shipped out to me ................ so i wonder if i will get it .
Thank you for your email, the dopram was expected in on the 30 march, however it failed delivery it has just arrived with us , your order will be processed, please accept my apologies for the delay.

Hi
I am waiting for my delivery too.... so fingers crossed we get it soon :)
Yvonne

I have just spoken to Hyperdrug and my order is being shipped tomorrow as Dopram V finally arrived today.
Did tell the lady I spoke to that we were getting conflicting info in emails and verbally and she apologised and said the supplier hadn't been reliable with delivery dates.
Has anyone priced this at the vets? May give mine a ring and see if they supply it to breeders and for how much.

> what day should i start taking temp?
You will get differing responses to this one. Mine would be never!
I don't ever find it reliable, and several other CD'ers say the same.
And you will get the breeders who swear by it. :-)

> I think I may start sleeping downstairs from tonight especially as my other two dogs, this morning seem to be picking on her a bit. What do you think?
A resounding yes from me. And keep the other dogs away from her, if they are getting so sensitive to her hormones. Give your girl as stress free an environment as you can.

I don't have much luck with the temp either,it would swing up and down, may have been because it has been winter time and the heating was going 24/7, just observe closely and wait.
