Topic Dog Boards / General / Help with affix please :-)

Hi everyone ,
I am currently trying to register a kennel name but have had the one I really wanted rejected ( only put 2 spellings on form as I didnt want to just settle for something I wasnt 100% sure about ! ) Anyway the one I wanted was Mipryde as it has sentimental meaning as it used to be held by a very good friend and breeder of my very first dog who sadly passed away a fair few years ago , but the kc wont let me have it as they say it is too popular in naming puppies . Do any of you have any similar ideas ( or better ones ! ) ... so far the other idea's I had are Milyfe (mylife ) and Midreme ( mydream )... I do also hold the affix Xylia which I don't like ( was last on my list , hence why I only put the one on this time , which is why I am trying to replace it , I had only got round to putting it on one of my girls anyway )
Any help greatly appreciated :-)

How about reversing it with a slight twist so it becomes something along the lines of Prydafmyne?

Lazlyfe or Lazdreme ?

As you were hoping for something in remembrance of your first dog & breeder, what of something along the lines of Prydelight or Angelpryde, Timespryde, Everpryde (trying to think of words that evoke memories or time, etc here!). Honourpryde, Dreamspryde.

If there is a word you really want, how about it being in a different language so it still carries that same meaning i.e.

My Dream.....

French- mon rêve
Spanish- mi sueño
Latin- somnium
Finnish- unelmani

You can have a go on translate.google.co.uk

Im in the same process trying to get something with my little boys name TRISTAN anyway i quite liked TANTRISTE but spoke to the lovely ladies who own TANTRIPP and they said they would put in an objection which is fair enough they have had it for over 40 years. Back to the drawing board. But i google anything i like and variants of it also look on champdogs breeders listing too. Hopefully we will be ok when we submit this, phoned kc for a provisional go ahead and will send it in.

One of my 6 options was my surname backwards TRAGGAH after I found out that someone who used to be in our breed had an anagram of her surname.

I was lucky to get my first choice which I kept being told before hand doesn't happen.

My surname is Clutterbuck !!!! ;-)

At the moment I am down to Mylyfe , or Elamani ( which means my life in Finnish ) :-)

Please remember that you should be able to pronounce the affix........in that I mean other people need to be able to.

Nothing worse than no one being able to say it or constantly mispronouncing it :-(

Wish I had thought of that when I applied for mine years ago!

I was given my 3rd choice, which was just a made up word - that - as far as I was concerned, meant nothing at all.  And, of course, I wouldn't be unlucky enough to be given a name that was just added to make up the numbers.  :-(

I only googled it after I found out that the 3rd choice had been accepted.  To find out that it was the name of an amoeba!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It has kinda grown on me, fortunately.

There are umpteen out there that I have got a clue how to pronounce.

Just one thing. Keep it short. If you get a long affix name it limits the amount of characters you can have on the KC registrations !

Do you have children?
Try making anagrams of their names.

I'd had a go at that , without much success .... I have a Toby , Oliver , Joshua , Joseph and a Freya ;-)

Mylyfe has been rejected too now ... my head hurts with all the thinking !! ;-)

Can't really help much....except to say that just occassionally I get a "mental block" too......

When this happens I tend to hit the paws button.....give My-Self a bit of time for a Re-Think (or a Thinker) and then come back to it....

It took us ages as well, i nearly gave up.  We had no joy making anergrams from names either, looked at all translations.

I looked at moon god/ess's and mithical things for a name and found loads that were suitable.  some of the meanings might fit in with what you want.

people can object to your name but it won't necessarily make a difference.  they have to have reason to have it turned down.

Ooh , will have a look at those this morning ... I came up with Vianni last night , which I like but don't love , from using my names Victoria Ann , so if all else fails I can try that ....

I came up with Vianni last night

Oh, a Mercedes? Sorry, just pointing it out just in case it might be important ... very close to a Merc. Mind I have a Merc and very good it is too :-)

Mmmm , probably no good then , as so far I have had them rejected for being registered company names , and too popular when naming litters :-(

Back to the drawing board .... ;-)

Mine is simply a combination of an abbreviation often used around here for my first name (Barb) and the pet name of my foundation bitch (Elka).
