Do you ever clean your ears?

in the shower yes everyday, its the outer ear  the fleshy part if that makes sense

Thats really weird because mine in the last week have started to do that aswell.  I will be watching this posting with interest.  I have short hair too.  Its the lobe that I have a problem with.

This may sound mad but last week we had beautiful weather, really warm, so sunburn?  Or perhaps a reaction now that spring has sprung (at least it has here) or if you have a new shampoo, even a new bottle of the old stuff (different batch that they cocked up perhaps?) or something else you use around your ears?

Could you have become allergic to your earrings? Or are you wearing new earrings at the moment?

one ear its the lobe and the other the top part , i did think of allergies but its happened over the last few months  at different times ,wouldnt be so bad if my hair covered my ears but it looks awful when its angry, i have just taken some of the do9gs piriton so will see if it does anything

That sounds a good idea. I always have Calendula cream in the cupboard for the dogs, that might be worth a try too.

I wouldn't be surprised if this is the answer, my OH has got the same thing going on only his is only on his right ear, he's a delivery driver so has been driving in the recent sun and warm weather with window down and now has a combination of wind and sunburn on his right ear.
It's swollen, itchy, sort of reddish purple colour and with slight peeling and blistering.
I bought him a sun cream lipstick thing that I make him put on his ear each morning.
He's not keen on the idea but needs must to protect the poor purple cabbage ear that he's getting.

My son occasionally gets something similar . One lobe gets swollen , hot and red , and he gets tiny pimple type spots . It then breaks down and starts to bleed if we don't catch it first .
It goes away if we put Germoline and a plaster on it overnight .
I have always assumed it was caused by getting sweaty at night as this is the side he usually sleeps on .

Will read others posts with interest !
