I have a 11 month golden retriever bitch and I am looking for a stud dog for her for when she's 3-3 and a half. I live in Bicester in the Oxfordshire area and I don't drive, so somewhere quite local would be nice. If you or you know anyone that might have one could you please e-mail me at Miranda.Watson@btinternet.com
Thankyou

The best piece of advice I can give you is get in touch with the breeder of your bitch, she is the one that knows all the lines of the pedigree and please remember and get all health checks done, she could also recommend a suitable stud dog to use, or just might have one of her own that is not too close in breeding.

A trip to Crufts in march would allow you to see and talk to any number of Golden people. Look at the dogs. See what you like. Make a shortlist. then go and talk to the owners Make sure it is not just as they are about to go into the ring or you could be told where to go!!!!

You are spoiled for choice. Off the top of my head I can think of around a dozen stud dogs within a 30 mile radius of you and Goldens are not my breed!

Regards, John

My Golden friends used to give me a slapping whenever I called their dogs Goldies. They insisted they were GOLDENS not Goldies!!! I have a lot of Golden friends so got a lot of slapping!

It's part of the fun. Looking at dogs to see which compliments your. Chatting to the owners and comparing pedigrees. It's the ideal place!

Best wishes, John

Thankyou Irene for your advice, I will talk to the breeder. She doesn't have any other dogs that might be suitable I know, but she might know someone else.
