Topic Other Boards / Foo / What to wear to a medals parade

Hi ,

My "sort of mum in law to be" has invited me to go to the medal parade when my bf comes back from Afghanistan.

Im not sure what to wear to something like this as haven't been to one before so was really hoping someone could give me some ideas? Is it really smart , or just smart. It's up at Catterick so am thinking it'll be chilly so don't want to be shivering either! :)

Thanks, Kate

Smart trouser/skirt suit or smart coat will do nicely. Hat if you wish nothing too big although it is better not unless you normally wear one and the same goes for gloves.

Ditto nice warm suit and a coat with gloves, if its sunny anything you feel is appropriate will do. But something sensible on your feet if you are stood all day!

Hi

Just dont do as my friend did and turn up in jeans if you are heading in to any of the messes they often dont allow jeans.

Smart but warm and comfy shoes is the way to go. You can google some pics to give you an idea just type in medal ceremony of similar.

Take a rain coat you can shove in your bag. Umbrellas block every ones view.

Most importantly a big smile for your hero x

Thank you everyone.

Skirt suit it is then I think , with nice warm coat. I have one of those pac in a bag things so can take that for incase it rains.

Will definitely be wearing a big smile!! :)
