Hi all, my Golden Retriever Skye is 14 months and today we have been to see Stuart Ellis in Preston for her eye test which is clear. I next want her hips scored can anyone recommend their vet that x-rays hips for scoring in the North East, County Durham / Cleveland areas. My own vet does it but would like to hear other owners opinions. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.

Mr ellis is fantastic.

Sorry I cant offer you a closer vet but Moy farm vets are great for hip scoring. I cant sing their praises enough.

Hi bluemerlemum he is such a nice man and was great with Skye. It's the first time I've done it and explained everything he was doing. I have just read the other posts recommending Moy Farm and everyone says how good they are, wish I lived closer. Cheers.

We take our Cavalier to Barnard Castle for her eye test, wouldnt that have been nearer for you?

They also do hips and elbows.
Just hips scored is £173 to £208
Hips and elbows is £223 to £258

Hope that helps a bit

Phone number is 01833 637700 Castle Vets

Copeland Vets at Ingleby Barwick also do it....this is my vet and I really like them

Hips is £104.18
H/E is £150.

Hi thanks toffeecrisp we wanted to go to Castle Vets in Barnard Castle but earliest appointment was late May, it's Mr Ellis who does the part time clinic there so we decided to go to his main practice in Preston we had an appointment within a week. I will ring Copeland who are the closet first to enquire about X-rays. Cheers.

Hi kayenine where do you live approx and what breed do you have?

Castles will be my vet from now on and its very handy to know the prices for hips and elbows.

Hi tiegold,
I just rang them up this morning to enquire about the prices....my Cav is due to go to Castle Vets very soon for her eye test...so I thought I'd kill 2 birds with 1 stone so to speak.
Glad to be of help:)

Hi all I rang Castle vets and Skye is booked in for early April (fingers crossed) as we have a weeks holiday then their price includes panel fee also rang Copeland vets and you have to give them a cheque for the panel fee on of the the X-ray price. Thanks for everyones help.

Dragon Veterinary Centre in Washington did mine under sedation and also did SA skin test and cost around £180 for both. That included panel fees too.

Mr Ellis also does a clinic at Vets4pets at Durham - but like Barney it depends when he's there.  I had a litter eye tested at Kendal as it was nearer than Preston.  There's a list somewhere of eyestesters, there is someone who comes up to near Darlington, but forgotten his name, but again it's an occasional clinic.  Otherwise around here Mr Ellis does all the clinics north of Darlington I think - the one at Kendal does occasional appointments at home.
