We have been invited out for a meal on Sat for my OH's birthday, and the host is making Squirrel pie, anybody had it before.
I'm willing to try anything, but my OH is a bit dubious!

Yes fresh deep fried and all I will say it is an acquired taste !! It is better stewed as it disguises the taste, whoops sorry enhances the flavour ;-) :-D
Now you'd have thought he wouldn't have to eat anything he didn't fancy on his own birthday!!
I've not eaten it but heard it's like strong rabbit

Yes its a strong gamey taste not quite everyones cup of tea. I think most people are put off by thinking of the squirrel alive and all cute bushy tail etc
I've had squirrel curry, very strong taste- wouldn't have it again!

Not sure I want to try it now!!
There are plenty of recipes online and it really doesn't sound too bad
...although perhaps they are teasing you and it's going to be a chicken pie really!
Thankyou thankyou thankyou for this thread. I desperately needed a good laugh after the day Ive had!!

Iv got a few friends at uni from Korea and they really hate the idea of cheese as it sounds disgusting to them, yer when they actually describe it to me I suppose it is.
Go on live life on the edge LOL give it a go, people all over the world eat squirrel and in some countries its considered a delicacy, just tell your husband not to worry as it is free range after all! :)
