Hi all just had birch mated last week, the guy handling the mating said she didn't really look ready yet as she is still bleeding quite heavily , but had her progesterone tested and showed she was ready. Over a week later she Is still bleeding and it's becoming quite dark. Dies anyone else have these experiences, and should I worry. The vet shrugged his shoulders!!

I took our bitch to be mated on day 12 then again on day 14 matings took place on both days.
She still had bright red blood on day 20 which gradually faded.
The matings were a success and she has just had her first litter.
I think all bitches vary.

The guy handling her isn't as experienced as he thinks he is!

I am not the only CD'er that has a bitch that bleeds heavily, continues throughout the matings, and bleeds for 3 weeks.

Oh, and has successful litters.  :-)
