well sge is 4 days old and been feeding well from mum till today, she seems weaker today and i tried latching her onto mum not intrested, is there any thing else i can do, she is warm and cosy with mum

Are you topping her up by hand? Lactol or Esbilac or similar will have amounts on the pack for how much to give for your breed. You can use a bottle or if toy breed like mine a syringe and a teat. Little and often. I wish you luck with this baby. It's hard x

no i have been leaving her with mum putting her on the teat every 2 hrs, been doing really well till today. should i start bottle feeding her im worried as if she does not want to suck from mum then she isnt going to want a bottle

I would stick with keeping her with mum, just get a bigger stronger pup on a back teat to start the flow then remove and put weaker pup on, to be honest I wouldn't stick to 2 hourly I would be doing more often like every hour or more as the first few days they should be feeding pretty much constantly. Also is the temp ok as the pup needs to be warm or it won't feed or digest milk well. It is hard work but keep going :-)

Are you weighing daily? It's well worth it to relieve any anxiety - as long as your little one is gaining a little bit each day, don't worry about her being smaller than the rest.

Hi, hope your little one is doing ok. I put two pups either side of a small one so they bring the milk through. Or when the strong ones are going hell for leather when their tails go straight and i can tell its coming through i very meanly pull one off and get the weakly one on. The stronger ones are usually strong enough to pull enough milk off on their own between mum letting her milk down. i do it as often as i see the pups going for it through the day then a little longer through the night and it gives me chance to cat nap. When i have got them to 12 days i spoon feed somthing like omega puppy with whelpie milk. It only take a couple of days and they usually start lapping a lot earlier. Only because i'm a bit ham fisted when it comes to bottle feeding tiny puppies unless they fit on a human size teat. dont for get to make sure mums has peed her before plugging her on ; )) Good luck, i remember those nights...hard.

I too had a tiny pup who was half the size of the other two. He only weighed 74grams when he was born. I did as the others have already said, let the bigger pups get the milk flowing and then take one off and put the little one on.  I have to say though, i did top him up after he'd fed from mum with a little welpi.  I reduced the amount of times i topped him up as he got stronger and could keep hold of the teat without one of the others pushing him off.  They are now 6 weeks old and although he is still tiny he is full of life and runs around all over the place attacking Father Christmas under my tree.  I weighed all three pups twice daily in grams so i could see how much or how little they were putting on.  It's comforting to see the weight gain even if it is only a couple of grams.

I have a little one in my litter born last wednesday and today she is very weak.  She is just gasping for air, I have tried her with a little welpi and she nearly choked. She is dehydrated, I want to do my best for her, if anyone has any suggestions I will try anything! She has had me in tears, I am so scared of loosing her.... Thank you

If she is gasping for air then she will not be able to suck, have you got nutridrops/vet drops, high energy and concentrated so only a few drops needed.

If she is that bad then fluids at the vets either IV or sub cut may be needed.

Hope she picks up soon

Thank you, We was at the vets this morning and they gave her some fluids and antibiotics and just told me to keep her warm. Half hour after typing me message she passed away, she was a little fighter, but sadly didn't make it!
