Hi I am back again she still hasnt given birth.

She has just started to express milk we are on day 62 based on first tie. she has always got hot and panted but appears to be doing it more frequently and looks slightly less comfertable than before.

How do I know when phase one has begun and when phase two has started. I know nothing set in stone but regards the milk does this NORMALY indicate birth very soon??

the Panting seems to be on going and snoozing etc. I read in "Book Of the Bitch" this may be signs of phase 1?

do you have any indications with your dogs regarding phase 1 please?

What I would be looking at, for a bitch that appears uncomfortable, is the eyes.  It is always my best indication.  Once they get the glazed look, I won't let them go too long before seeing the vet - it is so very easy to overlook inertia.

If a bitch has uterine inertia, it is extremely dangerous.  The easiest way to explain is to say that she is in labour but without contractions. 

It is something anyone needs to be aware of before they think of breeding.  It is not something that most novices recognise.  And, given that you could lose both bitch and litter, it is extremely important that you recognise that pain in your bitches eyes - and not let it go on for hours.

I have googled I understand. she hasnt been like this for long but I intend to stay up with her all night and keep a watchfull eye. If she appears to be in labour still and no action will ring the vet thank you. I have primed them with due date etc in advance they have been breifed.

mine had no milk beforem her definite sign was clearing out, she wasn't in pain untill shivering started.  that only last a few hours before pups came.  She was a little restless the dsays leading up and lots of puppy movement two days before.
