Topic Dog Boards / Health / Lump found and peeing in the house

I do not come on here much, but when I do I always seem to get really useful answers to my problems! I hope someone can give me some advise

Sparky - my male Yorkshire Terrier - 7 years old. He has a lump on his belly near to where his male shaft bit is (dont know how else to describe that!!). It is skin coloured and medium sized. It is squidgy to press and doesn't cause him any discomfort when I do this.

I am taking him to the vets on Saturday but wanted to know if anyone else has experienced this. I have looked online but seen a couple of things and now I am too scared to look! My partner said it could be a hernia.. but not sure

This could be totally unrelated, however recently he has started peeing in the house in the same spot in the morning. He is let out by my partner early morning, then again by myself before I leave for work, so he is not "bursting" to go... I wondered if this could be related? He does not pee at any other time in the day, it seems to either by early morning or through the night - not sure which and he is house trained (usually!!)

Is it midline, slightly further towards his head than his willy? If so it's probably an umbilical hernia. Or is it to one side, in his groin nearr his testicles? If so then it could be an inguinal hernia. Has it always been there or is it recent? Best get it checked out by the vet.

Sounds very much like a hernia to me.  Soft and squidgy doesn't sound like anything sinister.

I am sure that your vet will reassure you that it is a simple op for your boy.  :-)

It is a hernia, she thinks it could be caused by an operation he had a few years back and its just grown bigger..

Not causing him any problems so will get it removed when get the money together :)

It i slightly further towards his head but on the side near the top of his willy.

Thanks guys :)

if at all worried, you best see your vet.
