Topic Dog Boards / General / That told them

Just had a phonecall, sounded like a usual sales call to start with -then it turned out it was on behalf on Dogs Trust asking for donations. So I quickly stopped the chap who called and told him to please pass on that after Dogs Trust withdrew from Crufts I will never again support them -as is the case with most dog people. I used to donate in the past, sponsor a dog etc, but now will not do it. Think he was quite taken aback! He said it was done to remain neutral -no, I don't think so, pulling OUT of an event they have always attended is hardly being neutral, is it.

I had the RSPCA round collecting door to door a couple of years back soon after THAT programme had aired, I stopped the woman in mid flow and politely said I would not be supporting them in any way as they disapproved so much of the dogs I owned. She looked quite startled - I swear I was polite!

I did exactly the same LucyDogs, was very polite, the RSPCA person didn't know which way to look.

I wonder how much revenue they lost as I cancelled bot DT and RSPCA and not to long ago my hubby bought me dogs today and on the way home he realised JH was on the front so he took it back lol

Another one here who has given the RSPCA door knockers short shrift :-)  I came across a fox caught in a fence last week and with the help of a local resuce centre, was put in touch with a local RSPCA worker.  She immediately came out to see if she could free the fox (it had freed itself in the time it took for me to get home and make the calls) and as we chatted about my dogs she made some very scathing comments about 'THE' RSPCA ie the one that is always on the tele bleating and begging for money.  She gets no help from them at all and wouldn't give them the time of day.

Another here I give to neither since they decided to become political and do show much damage to pedigree dogs, i do however give to the local rescue here who are having a hard time without the funding of these big commercial organisations seem to have.

I am another one who used to give to both DT and RSPCA but no more...

If anyone still wants to help animals having given up on the RSPCA and DT then think about donating to the SSPCA. They had a whole turf war with the RSPCA two years ago as the RSPCA do not help animals in Scotand but still tried to fund raise here (cheeky blighters :-D ) . You can read about the SSPCA campaign here and find out about the SSPCA here. I'm sure the RSPCA will appreciate the irony :-D :-D

I did the same when the RSPCA came around on one of their fund raising campaigns. Two nice young men who I politely told that I could never support them again as they had given carte blanche to the puppy farmers to cash in on the comments made by their Chief Vet. I said that they really should take my comments back to HQ as he had done them a lot of damage. I showed them my 'mutant' dogs.

I dont support either DT or RSPCA, but, I do support The Blue Cross in Thirsk, we got a rescue cat from there many years ago.

I support local rescues always have done I have taken food and other things as well as donated financially. I do support the Blue Cross. I was at a memorial service yesterday for really lovely countryman and dog lover, he requested that donations were made to Blue Cross and RNLI.
I also have had RSPCA collectors on the doorstep and I told them I would never support them again after the fiasco with Jack and then PDE. I was very polite but I notice they no longer come here because I took the trouble to explain what happened to Jack and what I thought of their chief vet going on PDE. Now if they come begging I will also take up their time telling them about the unprofessional letter they have sent to the KC, Dog World and Our Dogs.
