Ridiculous comments i think

Well, what is there to say???
She thinks getting the Neo de-registered from the KC would show that the KC does not support 'freaks'. I thought Jemimas mission was improvement of the health of dogs - how on earth can there ever be any inprovements if breeds are kicked out the KC and left to be bred by people sticking to NO regulations???

I personally think the Neo, generally, have too much loose skin on thier faces, but this is an issue that needs takling - not a breed that needs sweeping under the carpet.

mm personally, ive taken an interest in neos for a few years now as i love the look of them, and i thought the bob neo was one of the better examples,he moved really well in the group ring from the coverage i saw, outmoving some of the usually well moving breeds.i'd love to own him.today at discover dogs were 2 good examples too, none of these dogs seemed to be "suffering". in fact from the way those photos are taken,i could take the same pic of any jowly breed in movement and get the same effect.clever pics taken by someone biased in my opinion, you can find a way to twist or edit anything to look like you want...

I thought they were moderate wrinkles just right for the breed type the BOB dog. She musnt have anything better to do with her time

there's a saying

"Empty vessels make most sound"

Seems particularly apt in her case ;)

Me too, to be honest it wasn't to my taste and i did think he had a tad too much loose/wrinkles, but i know very little about the breed.
But her opinion is extreme as always!

Personally this type of breed does not float my boat  but the KC ignoring them would not help at all - this and other similar breeds need to have the utmost support to improve the breeds health and conformation, casting them out would lay them open to rubbish breeders who would aim for even more exaggeration and they would become even larger with yet more loose skin.

Sorry, but for me many of those pictures are shocking. The only one of those I would describe as having 'moderate wrinkle' would be the last two photos of the 2nd in Open Dog. I assume with the current campaigns that the BOB is likely to have been vet checked before he got in to the group ring though?

Only discussing, not having a go, but I wonder if those of you in the wrinkled breeds such as this actually see the dogs the same as those of us less used to looking at dogs of this type?

My dog (English Mastiff) has some wrinkles and loose skin, however, as I said above, I think the Neo has too much wrinkling/loose skin to it's face.

Ditto, Lily Mc,

I'm not going to pretend either that any of those photo's made me feel comfortable, but unlike the GP, I know it is not the breed as a whole, however there are still plenty who look like this and plenty in dog shows winning who look like this, it is about time that these  exaggerations were met head on, banning a breed from the KC - how utterly ridiculous, Jemima you come up with some of the most silly suggestions.

What needs to happen is over time, and it will be time, years in fact, the breed standard needs to change little by little, judges need to be on the side of winners with lessening exaggerations and breeders need to work to bring in less heavy, long, hanging wrinkles, particularly to protect the eyes.

But, saying that, it's happening already. Some people just want it done right now, which is not possible, it took decades to make breeds look as they do, it may well take decades to change to a more acceptable exaggeration too.

It isn't as if the breed were of British development, they are a foreign breed only fairly recently introduced here, so perhaps it is the Italian kennel Club and the FCI that Ms JH needs to speak to before attacking the KC.

After all the breeders can only breed with the dogs that exist and change takes time.

...and don't forget that CD is one of her favourite sources for material so she'll be back to see what reaction she's caused this time.

I think we ought to stop giving her airtime

can i just add, as an owner of sharpei, bullmastiffs and dogue de bordeaux in the past, wrinkles do not always equate to unhealthy, most owners of these breeds keep their dogs wrinkles clean and free from infection or debrit and if you improve tightness around the eyes, through breeding and the standard, that improves  potential eye problems.those of you not used to or who dislike these breeds, wrinkle doesnt always equate to unhealthy.of the neos i saw today, none had any eye probs or were unhealthy, all had muscle tone and no breathing problems, despite it being rather warm there.
