Hi All.
We had quite a bit of stringy mucus last night all down my girls legs. We are on day 56 and she is really starting to slow down now.
Is this normal around this sort of time? I cant really find a definate yes or no
Also, I have started taking her up to bed with me, but she wont settle. I wondered if people prefer to sleep downstairs with their dog or have the dog upstairs with them? I have brought a baby monitor so I can hear her when shes downstairs at night atm.
Thanks x
Yes it is normal, it's the plug starting to dissolve, can be up to a week before birth or as little as an hour before , so don't panic quite normal as long as it is a good clear or opaque colour, if dark red or brown pop to the vets for a check.

Minnie has been losing her plug since Monday,it was much thicker than we'd expected - sort of a jelly consistancy and slightly yellow coloured . . .still no signs of pups, but lots of wriggling

We are now on day 62 from first mating.
I have been up for the past five nights sleeping on sofa. she is panting all night long then she settles down and sleeps all day on sofa and my eyes are like matchsticks. She will not entertain whelping box in my room at the moment.
Is this normal as not had this before.
Hopefully tonight as temp down and lots of clear mucous. My past litters started panting shortly followed by contractions
but suppose all different. I have been on alert as last litters born on day 58 and 59 from first mating.(different bitches)
Just so excited now and wish it would happen soon.
Mine doesn't like the whelping box either, If pups are there, they'll go in.
Sounds like you'll go before me, lol. Thought she was going to go this afternoon but just getting comfy i think. i now know what she'll whelp on (maybe) she's so finiky at the minute.
Has your girls appitite altered, mine hasn't except maybe eating a little more if I get it right what her fancy is at that time ;)
Kane, you;d thing they would be good and sleep the right way round, poor you. i think they like get their own back on us for getting them in 'that state' lol.
Good luck.

Keep thinking Minnie is going into labour - its day 61. Then nothing.
Been losing the plug since Monday.Keeps just staring at the wall.Lost appetite a teeny bit,but think she is just fed up with the wormer.
Wont go near the whelping box, wants to build a mud nest up the back garden near the fox den.
We keep thinking she is too heavy to roll over - then on her short walk today she found fox pooh - rolled over as fast as I have ever seen ! stinks now !

She would eat a huge amount if i allowed but she is greedy so I have been giving her about 1/3 more than normal
and got to feed others in another room or she would have it all.
Last girl crawled under bedroom unit at 3.30am and decided this was where she was having them ha ha ,they love to
be awkward.
I keep thinking she is going to be soon as she is normally happy to sit with anyone or one of the other dogs
but won't leave my side.Hubby says he will take a turn tonight but I'm not saying i don't trust him but he might nod off
so will just sit it out for another night she usually starts the panting about 11pm and this goes on until 6am then she settles for a days napping.
The joys, maybe your girl will be tonight hopefully.
Good luck.x

Yep this is what Inka had me doing for a week.
My girl had her pups yesterday, she didnt show any signs of labour till she was actually hard contracting. It was only when she started pushing that she started panting and digging. She ate all 3 meals that day to!
She went on dat 64 from first mating to.

Its hard for us to tell if she is panting hard or not - as its a large heavy coated breed and she ahs panted pretty much non stop since the 4th week !
:-( wish they could tell us !
