So good to get back to sensible coverage of Crufts.
Great commentators, full coverage of the group and a very tamed comedian..
Success, so glad they listened.

Agree, thought they did a good job and it is great to see all the group and not just the cut.
>Agree, thought they did a good job and it is great to see all the group and not just the cut.
yes thats what I thought :)

My only gripe was nothing of the inter regional obedience shown yet that went on for most of the day today and was filmed. Other than that -yes, lovely change!!

I've not seen any obedience on tv for about 4 or 5 years now. :-( Fingers crossed they will change this tomorrow! Watched nearly half of it now (stupid puppy class clashing!) and it's great so far!

The did stream OB last year - I missed that they didn't this year? How did your friend get on Marianne?
Arghm, More 4 had that Dougie bloke on again, he reminds me of the pointy nosed bloke in the Lloyds Bank commercials.

great job more4! Great coverage, seeing all the group. Lucky i recorded it, so managed to whizz through the adverts! :)
How did your friend get on Marianne? She did really well. I couldn't stay until the very end as I had to get home to meet another irish friend coming to stay (so I don't know what team won), but I watched all Zara's (Goldmali Cherish) work with owner Alison. Lost a total of 9 ½ points which was very good indeed and one of the best scores we saw. Zara's worst exercise was the recall as she stopped partway to sniff a spot on the floor -as did other dogs -and so she lost 5 points for that alone. Lost just 2 points for heelwork, 1 ½ on retrieve and 1 on scent. She's only 2 years old and this was class A! I was so impressed. Filmed Zara's round and will put it on YouTube next week for sure. :)

yes agree much better than last year and the comedian has toned down..thankfully why he is there in the first place I really dont know.
looking forward to tommorrow especially as its pastoral day...:)

Good to see all the group but to much chit chat and repetition of phone numbers for friends for life. Let us see more of the dogs on show

Yea enjoyed this coverage but got fed up watching Friends for life, should keep this as one item and show them all together then just repeat numbers if needed. That way we can see more of the judging after all without the dogs there would be no Crufts!!

I didn't mind having the full stories on the first night, but hope (probably futile!) that we won't get them on every other night. Slight tangent, all the dogs are fantastic and all the people they help well deserving, but I hope the lady with Kaiser gets it - the 2 kids have the love and support of their families as well as the dog, and the 2 owners of the search / detection dogs have their colleagues etc, but I really felt that the disabled lady was pretty much alone in the world except for that dog, he really is everything to her. :-)

Think More 4 are in the difficult position of having to try to please both us, the dog nuts, and the general viewing public, so perhaps we will have to put up with comedians and the rather silly contest between dogs doing unlike jobs but I guess the money from the phone calls help pay the bills.
Me, I am grateful for small mercies - at least so far no idiots telling up a load of total nonsense about how to deal with dogs.

Quote selected textLOL, would you wear a suit to clean the teeth of a DDB :-)
>LOL, would you wear a suit to clean the teeth of a DDB
Did you happen to take a peek in there? Those teeth looked as though they hadn't been cleaned in ages so good on him for getting up close and personal but
cripes - did he really have to taste the stuff!! YUK
> Did you happen to take a peek in there?
Exactly what I thought too! How old did they say that dog was?
I've never cleaned my dog's teeth and they are stunningly clean and bright white at 5 years old thanks to a raw diet & bones.

A wetsuit possibly :-)

I know, it drove me mad last year - why not just wear a t-shirt with 'I AM A VET' all over it in huge letters! :-p

"Friends for Life " is an utter bore, but no-where near as boring as the Scottish twit making "collars." Because of his twaddle, they ran out of time to show Pastoral Group 2, 3 & 4 which would have been interesting. Jessica seemed to be suffering from dyslexia when she had to read the dogs' names & Frank Kane called the Flatcoat a Curly coat. That aside, it was nice to see every BOB, though some were only of their feet! Timing still not quite right I feel, but better than the BBC.

Is anyone watching crufts tonight and saw Pam StClements (Pat Butcher). I amazed at how well spoken she is and nowt like Paaat Butcha. Glad to see she is a doggy advocate.

Still watching and can't believe the woman who lost 10 stone from walking her dog and then said she walked her 6 month westie for 10 miles yesterday. The presenter didn't challenge it either!

Has anyone found More4+1? It was DEFINITELY mentioned today ("also one hour later on more4+1") but it does not exist on my Freeview, I even re-scanned it and found a few new channels but still no More4+1. I have all the other plus ones.

I am so glad that I am not the only person that was gobsmacked when the "Slimmer of the Year" dropped that stupid comment in. JP believes things they hear and not one single knowledgeable dog person has put the record straight. I am still livid. If I knew where to send an email, they would get a hammering from me.

must admit Clare Balding did look a little shocked when she said that.

Isn't Claire Baldwin asking for emails and pictures to be sent in, don't know the address but perhaps could send one asking her to point out the suggested 5 min of exercise to a month rule.

Just emailed from the More4 website. I have made it clear that an announcement needs to be made, as too many people will believe it's ok.
I did mention that a "professional dog walker" needs to know more about dogs.
Have enjoyed the coverage until tonight whats with the breaks every 10 mins and only get to see mary ray last 10 secs of her routine?
Peanuts
A lot of us on my breed forum were appalled so we have all mailed crufts@channel4.com I would suggest the more mails they get they might have to say something somewhere, too late to undo the comment. I wonder if appearing on TV turns some people into total imbeciles?

Have to admit that I was disappointed with that one. I always enjoy seeing what routine she has for us, a great shame that more wasn't made of it.
> only get to see mary ray last 10 secs of her routine?
Yes that was odd.... and something I wanted to see, too. I can only assume that as More4 are new to this lark (but generally doing a fab job) they got the timings wrong and something over-ran (as it did with one of the groups the other night). But their coverage is so much better than the BBC's ever was, I wouldn't like to over-criticise & things can only improve with time :)

also there was no in depth look at the toys and utility, it just showed the dogs walk out and then the final cut, i would have watched live stream but was at work so dissapointed

Really? You only got 10 seconds of the routine on More4? I'm afraid I was there live and you missed a REAL treat, she just gets better and better each year. She had that little Sheltie doing backward circles round and underneath the collie - so cute! And I can barely comprehend getting one dog to do one move, let alone 2 dogs doing 2 different moves, she's brilliant. Hopefully you'll be able to see it all on catch up or something!

More4 didn't even give the names of the toy & utility BOBs as they did on the previous days. Those dogs & owners were a bit short-changed I felt.

I've only caught up Saturday so far - tomorrow I'll watch Sunday. Nice that they went back and finished the pastoral group after running out of time the day before. Great shame if as you say they didn't put the names up!

It felt very rushed on sunday..I know maybe this is going to sound harsh but too much emphasis is put on Friends For Life during the More4 programmes.
Also have to mentioned that they kept saying that the Boxer got Group 1 last year, no he didn't, the Rottie did.. How many times did they say that?? Its little things like this that need ironing out..
Still much better than BBC, but then again the BBC don't have advert breaks, which I can't stand!!
Was the small dogs agility shown as i only saw the medium sized agility ?
