Hi,

Has anyone been to Crufts today if so, do you know if they are letting exhibitors park in the East Car Park or are they making people go to the South and West Car parks.. As I recall last time we went the East car park was closed off?

We are in hall 5 on Saturday and the East car park would be closest to our entrance..

Thanks

Thanks for that LJS.

Not certain JayJay all I know exhibitors can arrive from 7am so am guessing that's when the car parks open as well?

I got there last year at 4.00am only to be turned away along with several other motorhomes, some foreign who assumed (as with most shows abroad, and most here) you could either park up close to the entrance and wait for opening, or just go in an have a quick rest.  Not at all security moved us on, and off the NEC grounds completely.  Even though there was a substantial number of motorhomes already in there from the day before, the NEC security told us they had bought "overnight passes".

Anyway we all went back around 5.00am and the car park was open for NEC staff so we just cruised on in, no one checked us, or directed where to park.  That was East.  What was really annoying was at around 6.30am I and many others took our trolleys in before the dogs to the halls, and low and behold the disabled car park right by hall 5 had several caravans and motorhomes with people in who had stayed over night also.

Come on KC this is Crufts, why on earth do you not cater for those of us who want / need to stay overnight?  If we could I would happily go back in after settling the dogs down in the motorhome and shop.  As it is I don't bother now as it is too packed to take dogs around the stalls, and I am not about to drive 4 hours back the next day for a shopping spree.

Remember that the car parking isn't run by the KC; it's the NEC's own jurisdiction.

I have written to the NEC and spoken to them on the phone.  They tell me, several people at the NEC, that event organisers have the option to provide overnight parking.  For example the HOYS, we pay to park our horsebox there overnight, sometimes for the week.  Motorhome show, enthusiasts go for the duration - the CC apparantly staff it.  The NEC have told me that the KC could get staff through the CC, or other sources but they will not.  Other Ch shows do, why not Crufts?  Of course the KC blame the NEC.  It puts alot of foreign entries off for a start, at least 30 in my own breed alone.  Why oh why, all modern units are self contained anyway, we do not even need water or electric hookups.
