Ok so lets see who thinks is going to get BIS show this year as I know threads have been done on previous years so nice to see who people think will be the main contenders :-)

Nora?

Yes I agree the CC!

Would lve to see the Kentuckian (Flattie) do it at 9.5 years old but think one of the big winning Terriers will get it.

bernese mountain dog of course! :) well, here is hoping :) x

GSD heres hoping too
> Isn't the guy doing BIS the same guy who just did Westminster BIS? He did supprise everyone there!!
He did - and said something along the lines of the Deerhound being to the exact standard of 150 years ago. So something of a traditionalist, perhaps? Wonder what he will go for, if it is the same chap.
the chinese crested...or the bracco from last year in the line up.

Is the Pharoah Hound from last year entered as that was quite spectacular on the BIS line up?

Not sure if Qing the Pharaoh is entered but he is more or less retired now and his owner is currently showing a different one successfully in Sweden.

just going by the bis winners from last years shows..looks like the C Crested is in the running!
As long as it isn't an Aussie I don't mind... The breed is just about getting over the last one winning.... :-(
Gabrielle

c crested or the fcr
Wouldn't it be great if a rare breed won it!!

Well I would say Nora but as Chinese Cresteds are on the KC's 15 breeds hit list, I wonder if the BIS judge will be brave enough?

Err, perhaps not, the wining breed will cause a good many people to want one and if it is a rare breed there will be a good market in puppy farming them, if it is a breed of high numbers the problem is not so bad as there are pups more easily available.

I think it will be a foreign dog ;-)

Exact same reason I'm quite glad the JS often gets over looked, don't really have to much issue with puppy farming and hoping it will stay that way :)
Agreed, my breed will not win BIS either, but am glad for the same reasons as you state, the more publicity a breed gets the more people want one thus increasing puppy farming.
Whatever breed wins....well done.

Well I would say Nora, but as I will be up against her in my class I would rather she didn't (hehe)

I'm rooting for my good friend with her Newfoundland bitch (come on Shirley with Gracie), and can't wait for the video of the gamekeepers ring to come online as I have a few friends with Labradors entered.

When the Basenji won it, because Numbers are so low they managed to keep a handle on it as there wasn't the time for the Puppy farmers to obtain any before the hype had died away.
With a popular breed they just crank up production as they already have the dogs.

I was thinking the exact same today - and (being cynical) even wondered if the KC would advise the group and BIS show judges to give the top awards to a more "normal" breed of dog rather than one of the 15.

Well my money (if i had bet!) has been on the bracco INT/SAN/MAR/IT/IR CH AXEL DEL MONTE ALAGO even before crufts started, he's on the right track as he has taken best of breed. Fingers crossed.
Gundog results are on fosse for those that want to look.

Got to be the boxer.Totally adorable.

The boxer is nice, but when I googled him I found his
pedigree and I can't help thinking that (like the GSD) him winning would give the papers and JH plenty of ammunition. I don't know what his co-efficient of inbreeding is, but it must be very high. His dam is effectively the result of a brother/sister mating, she is then mated back to her grandfather who himself is the result of a half brother/sister mating - confused, bet he is!

Did have a look, very confusing can't say whether it's ethical or not but must be allowed does not mean we can't form an opinion ourselves as to whether we agree with it or not, however can't help thinking you are totally right with the GSD it is giving plenty ammunition.

I'm putting my money on the flat coated retriever I think. He is stunning!!

My favourite so far is the FCR followed closely by that delightful PBGV.

Our signal for More4 is useless tonight, so I can't watch any of it! Aaaarrrggghhh!
>OMG just looked at the results for the chinese cresteds' and 'Nora' isn't there!!!

watching it now on live stream. I thought I heard nora was not there :( why would you miss out on try ing for big.
lea? :)

they might have entered but didnt go due to ill health of handler or dog, car broke down, family crisis ....

i was told well before crufts that nora hadn't been entered
FCR followed by the PBGV BUT I think for "some reason" the Wire might get it followed by Mr Coad..................
