Do your searches under
"Shetland Sheepdog" or "Sheltie" to see if this is what you are looking for. If you check on the Kennel Club website or the
American Kennel Club--Shetland Sheepdog it will state the breed requirements for size, character, and overall 'look'. Avoid breeders who are advertising along the lines of "tiny" or "Rare miniatures"....
Seriously, there are those out there who are making Shelties as tiny toy breed sized dogs at 4-9 pounds...I've met one in a household. It was the shyest little dog I've ever met and very scared of its own shadow. I thought at first it was a Papillon since it was around the same size...
My obedience trainer bred and showed Shelties. She was the one who told me about the new trend on breeding for their size and cuteness, not temperment and health. They used to have a very foxy sharp appearance in the 1970s along with a reputation for snippiness in the US. Through careful breeding, they returned to their collie-like appearance and excellent temperments...so it's heartbreaking to see this 'new' trend appear in the last 5 years :( :(
good luck on your search,
regards,
toodles
