Hi
I don't post very often but read and value your advice.
I saved up the tokens and booked a Sun holiday, which I do every year mainly to take the dogs away, and have to pay £30 extra for the privilege of booking a 'doggie/shitty' caravan for, which I don't object to paying extra for.
This year for some reason, not only do I have to pay the extra £30 dog extra for, but I was charged an extra £20 to allocate a 'dog friendly' caravan making a total extra of £50 on top of the holiday.
I'm just wondering whether anyone else has had experience of paying an extra £50 for the Sun holiday for the dog holiday or has the agent on the phone made a mistake?

I found the sun holidays to be a bit of a con. We could book the same weekend for £119 but through the sun we had to pay £50 with the vouchers and then pay £60 for the bedding, passes when we arrived. Difference was, with us booking we could get what we wanted, when we wanted! I would never do the sun nonsense again.
After booking a 'dog-friendly' caravan, we came home and bought a tourer. At least this way we can do the holidays the kids love and take our dogs in a clean 'van! The static we booked was so disgusting and when we complained, they moved us to a worse one. I spent the first 2 days cleaning the caravan as their was blood on the floor and I kept find food under the beds/sofa. And then we had to leave as I couldn't sleep on the stinking bed!! Foul.
LOL P.S. Hope you have a lovely time!! PMSL.
Hi, Parents have done these hols several times and only paid the £30. Always had very clean vans, though not luxury, usually a bit older than the rest, and have always enjoyed these hols. Last year they went to Ireland with the dog, and even got the sailing through the Tesco clubcard offer, so travelled that part for free.
Would ring the hotline and query that extra £20.
I am doing it this year in France and they want to charge £42 per dog, though if you book the dogs directly with the site they are only 10 euros each.
By getting a priority code as a previous Sun hols customer, it enables you to book immediately online, choosing the sites and dates that you want,
so worth bearing in mind for next time if you know someone with a priority code that they won't be using.
Without including the dogs, my week should cost over £900 if I booked independantly. I paid £120 initially, then an extra £62 service charge, so a saving of over £700.
They are definately worthwhile for me as I couldn't warrant paying the full price.
Have a great holiday.
