Topic Dog Boards / Feeding / Raw food suppliers?

I stopped ordering from Landywoods some time ago due to problems with delivery and quality. I have been buying from Prize Choice since but they are so expensive in comparison. I know that there are quite afew more companies now that are supplying raw food for dogs but I can't find any (other than PC and Landywoods) that deliver to the Hertfordshire area. Anyone know of any? Butchers are useless round here and the main thing I order is green tripe which they wouldn't do anyway.

had a look at their prices, the wings are expensive, i buy chicken wings from a wholesaler for between £0.79p-£0.89p per kg they come in 13.61 kg box, alot of the time they have come from corn fed chickens and they are human food so no seperate freezer, frozen chicken portions from sainsburys are also cheaper at £1.35 kg, they come in 2.5 kg bag

I live in Herts. and I'm currently using Albion. Two of my dogs won't touch their chicken mince or the turkey mince, but the rest of it seems OK and is reasonably priced. Deliveries have always been correct and arrive on time and they come to this area fortnightly. http://www.albionmeatproducts.co.uk/

I know that TPMS deliver to Tring, Herts, every 4 weeks on Thursday

Their prices have been creeping up but they are still still pretty reasonable and I've never had cause to complain about quality or service.  My last order shows minced green tripe at 40p per 453g, minced chicken 39p and minced lamb 49p.  They also stock bones, necks, wings and liver.

I also use albion  I dont use the chicken mince but do use kennel mince lamb as well as most of their other chunky products very please. The other company I like is the dog food company scott can be abit difficult to get hold of I found email good but products are good especially the bones. The last lot I ordered I nearly cooked the lamb ribs with bbq sauce for oh they looked so good

Hi Pedlee,

Albion looks good but has a minimum order of 68kg - is that right? I have a chest freezer but not sure I will fit that much in as well as room for bones!
- By furriefriends Date 04.02.11 13:30 UTC
not sure if there is a minimum order for albion but the more you order the cheaper it is. If you ring them ask to speak Catherine she is very helpful
- By zarah Date 04.02.11 13:40 UTC
Hi furriefriends,

On here it seems to say that the minimum order is 68kgs (unless I'm understanding it wrong) and that the weight doesn't include bones. Looks good otherwise though!
- By Pedlee Date 04.02.11 13:41 UTC
My last order was 8 boxes of 24 (their premium range, each block 454g) and that is roughly what I usually order (87kg ish).

Give them a ring re: 68kg minimum order, which I guess would be about 6 boxes of 24, Catherine is very helpful. The blocks are nice and square, not like Landywoods, so stack pretty well.

Thanks Pedlee.

Must have been my memory then Zarah and also the fact that I am at last in the lucky positin to have a good amount of freezer space and can order 3-4 months at atime about  The dog food company has mim order of £20.00 not by weight unless my brain has gone again:)

Hi,
I pay 25p a lb for chicken, tripe, chicken necks or eco lamb & 60p a lb for ox or lambs heart the only problem is its pick up only.
Its good quality and my dogs and puppies love it.

The Dog Food Company? You'd have to ask about delivery as not sure if Scott goes to your area, but their products are very good, I've used them over a year now having also got fed up with Landywoods.

I use RawToGo and The Dog Food Company. I like the Dog Food Company stuff very much, but they don't have turkey and venison which is what I need for one of my dogs that is allergic to the usual meats. RawToGo is also great, I order said turkey and venison from them, though their postage is a bit pricey.

lurcher girl, i use DFC and have had venison in my last 3 orders, good quality too...it isnt on the website but just ask scott, when he can get it he will for you
- By LurcherGirl [gb] Date 01.03.11 17:31 UTC
Mandy, I will ask next time. Unfortunately I need a steady supply as my spaniel is very restricted in the meat types he can eat.
- By Gizmoo [gb] Date 03.03.11 15:43 UTC
I get venison from TDFC too, I wonder if Scott could guarantee a supply for you if you explained your dogs diet? He obtained pancreas for me when I asked. :)

It's a shame you can't find a good butchers, mine are fab, I get about 40-60 portions of chicken for £2.50 and free lamb bones!  It's worth ringing round to see if you can find a local meat processing place that will sell you carcasses/bones, as they are so much cheaper.  A good place to enquire is via local rescues, who may well feed green tripe, someone suggested greyhound rescues on another forum I go on, worth a try possibly?
