Hallo,Ive just taken my daughters 4 kittens in for castration, and have just been informed one needs another op as hes bleeding quite badly from the castration wound,im so worried, shes in tears,we re both feeling guilty, has anyone else any experience of this, please?

How old are they? (As you said kittens.) It happened to one of mine when my former vet suggested early neutering at 14 weeks. My poor boy nearly died and was sent home despite bleeding heavily. The good news is he recovered and is now a successful show cat -but it did take a year before he was comfortable even being handled and groomed, or travelling, after his experience. I will never again have any cat neutered before they are fully grown.
These were quite old,ten months,I just rang up and the op was successful, although shes going to ring me when hes come round, the bleedings stopped,I do hope he l be ok.Im glad your boy recovered, poor lad, what a horrible experience for you both. She said it was her error so they wont be charging me,I suppose these things happen. My daughters euphoric, didnt have the heart to say he s not out of the woods yet,got everything crossed.

Probably just a fluke then -at that age he should have every chance of a good recovery. Fingers crossed, let us know!
Theyre all home, including george, the poorly one,hes still groggy, but no bleeding, checkup tomorrow, metacam and antibiotics,so it looks likely he l be fine, phew!actually, they found another cat, alfie, had a heart murmur, and another had a swollen bite at the top of one of his legs that my daughter hadnt noticed,so there was only one fit cat among them! And even hes not feeling too happy just now!
george got to go back on monday,as he has a bit of fluid near the op site, and may need it draining, the others are all fine and neednt go back,we had a bit of confusion as to which cat was which, theyd actually got it right!(all black and white,Id got alfie(heart murmur)down as rex, twas me that was wrong-no surprise there then!(a womans place is in the wrong- - -!)
