Hi i'm really sorry to repeat thing but i can find the answer.

My litter are 2 weeks old today and i was all set to worm them but i'm a bit unsure what to do.....the bitch was wormed from 40 days pregnancy - 2 days post whelp with Panacure 10%. i was going to use Drontal puppy suspension for puppies (when i manage to work out dosage lol) but it says not suitable for pregnant / lactating bitches. when should i next worm the bitch and with what ? My brain just cant work :(

Many thanks

Claire

I would stick with Panacure, just weight the pups and give them dose for weight for 3 days, then just give mum a single dose.
That is what i would give, good luck xx

thanks for your reply. Do you give your puppy buyers wormer to use when they take their puppy home - if so what do you give?

hi claire stick with panacur i wormed mum from day 40 then did a silly thing and that was to worm pups at 2weeks old woith dronital puppy ,we ended up at the vets with sick pups coming from both ends so worring....so at 4 weeks i went back to panacur over 3 days and pups were fine not even soft poo's it was great! i did them again at 7weeks before they went to the new homes :)

I always think that, if you give someone wormer, and their pup is ill - they are always going to blame you.

I always give a worming certificate to new puppy owners, all detailed with dates for their vet.  Apart from making people aware that I always use Panacur, and that mum of pup was wormed during pregnancy, I think it's best that their own vet takes over when the pup goes for its health check.

I don't worm until 3 weeks, I think having wormed the bitch through the pregnancy that they can stand to wait until 3 weeks when they are bigger, and on solids.

Both of my pups (same breeder, 3 yrs apart) came with instructions about what wormer to use (Drontal in this case), and when.  All the owners were notified in advance (before pups came home) what wormer to buy - together with the cheapest online supplier link - and then it was fully explained again on puppy-pick-up-day.  We were also emailed the day before worming was due as a reminder.

In both cases most of us then sent emails, copied to all the puppy owners to give an update on pups weight and general progress.  3.5 years, and 6 months, later we all still do!!   I rather like being part of a larger dog owning family and it's so useful sometimes to compare notes :)
