Why do people place a 2 year old blind spinoni into rescue (although this may have come in from Ireland but it does not say that on Many Tears site although they have just collected a lot of dogs and puppies from Ireland) How confused this young dog must be, he must have belonged to someone somewhere then to be unwanted in a very bewildering world, placed here there and everywhere must be so confusing. I know blind dogs cope well when settled in familier surroundings but this dog must be far from settled at the moment.
Some of these rescues do some very dubious things. Often they appeal for hundreds of pounds for operations for these poor dogs. I know we all want to do what's best for dogs but, as said, a blind dog would be very confused and probably unhappy. What would be best for this dog?
Well, we don't know the details..... do we? Many Tears take on breeders' dumps - we know that - and most are puppy farmers' rejects of one sort or another. I don't know if puppy farmers are now breeding Spinones, but that's kind of immaterial since we know that ethical breeders wouldn't dump a dog on them in the first place. So maybe they take on BYB's mistakes as well. Most of the dogs from Ireland, as I have said before, are crossbreeds.
The dog does look similar to our Italian Spinone, although I do believe that you can not get this colour in Spinones. So can not be a pure bred Spinone? The dog looks like a labradoodle to me..
I thought more like a German Wirehaired Pointed actually, head wrong for a Spin? But then, could be a poorly bred one. Anyway, the breed immaterial really to the poor dog and to the question of whether dogs with such disabilities should be rehomed when there are healthy ones that can't find homes.
Some of those ex breeding bitches... wow is all I can say, Sophie had a large litter and she didn't look anything like many of those bitches do many look as if they have just come off of a litter. Very sad I hope they find forever loving homes.
The site says she is a cross, but she does look like a Labadoodle. There is a Spinone x Geyhound in my local rescue in Doncaster, but it looks nothing like the dog in Many Tears!
