When I got back at 8.30 this morning from walking the boys I was met by very worried OH. Our 13 year old small crossbreed bitch couldnt stand. She sleeps in our bedroom but doesnt get up with me when I take the boys out at 7 so I didnt know anything was wrong. Her back legs just gave way everytime she tried to stand up. Our vets opens at 10am but during this time there had been no improvement, she could still not stand or walk. My OH carried her into the vets and we were telling him what the problem was as my OH put her down on the floor, she took one look at the vet and legged it out of the door, making us look as if we had made it all up.....lol
After looking her over and manipulating her legs he gave her an anti inflammatory injection and tablets for twice a day for 6 days and then we see how she is after she finishes them. The cost of this was 12 euros, (here in Spain you just pay for the treatment not a consultation) Previously we have taken a stool sample in at 5pm and had the results back at 7.30 with no charge.

Ha! They are little monsters at times aren't they. I hope she is feeling much better.
Yes, my little cocker spaniel has made a fool of me before. I heard what I thought was her fitting, sounded like her body slapping against the tiled floor. When I got to her she looked unsteady on her feet, I was ill, phoned the vets in floods of tears, rushed her up with her sat in the back of the car all excited about an unusal outing, she pulled me into the vets wagging her tail and wanting to give everyone kisses. I felt like such a fool! The next morning, the same noise, I ran to where she was and it was her on her back having a wrestle with my other spaniel.
No wonder I have grey hair!

Lol, thats brill.
Yes she much better thank you, back to normal.

I was away at a show and the lady who works for us called in hysterics to say Lolly (ckcs) had broken her leg at the very least as she couldnt stand up.
After calming down she described that Lola couldnt get down from the sofa and every time she put her down she'd fall over.
We packed up and immediately made our way to our vet where my dog nanny would meet us.
About 30 minutes later she called back to say that she was SO sorry but Lolly had got a rear foot claw caught in her collar..everything was fine and that she was a 'silly billy'.... not what I called her I can assure you :-)

I can see why you couldnt see the funny side at the time but I cant stop laughing. Sorry but I can picture her trying to put her down on the floor................
I always did have an odd sense of humour.
Similar incident with our bully boy, came downstairs and he wasn't putting his back right foot to the floor and looked very sorry for himself.....thought i would leave it a little while to see if it was just a bit stiff being a bit cold......hour or so later he was still holding it up so off to the vets, limped out the car hobled for a wee and into the vets......ooooooo lots of other doggies to sniff lets make mom look a complete wally and jump around like a lunatic.......and forget my leg is bad!!!!
Anti inflamitary jab just in case, but other than that think he was pulling my leg......
Crossing over the pedestrian crossing...sorry mum I need a poo....traffic both sides had to wait till she had finished and I had picked it up...red face or what!!! Thankfully the drivers did find it funny:)

Has your dog shown you up?

hmmm...let's see:
--surreptitiously peeing on another (complete stranger) dog owner's leg while we were chatting...that was a good one :D
--retrieving hens (not mine, they belonged to an extremely irate woman who then sent me a bill for £118 for a vet visit and Baytril...that was a bad one :(

many a time !!!!
george loves to pee on me or my handbag when a bitch is near,or scare people to death who have never heard a pug inward sneeze and think he is dying,
stan loves to drag me into the back of a transporter van(not mine)
and only yesterday, dragged me into an old dears garden and pooed on her lawn, love them though and would not be without them x

My old GSD Louie used to have a " thing" for running his big wet nose up the back of skirt wearing girls legs, especially if they didn't have tights on, that could be quite hard to explain in the queue at the post office.
He also did a huge poop right between two rather posh ladies I was chatting to in the woods, obviously I was taking far too long lol.
