She's on day 56, and is huge!!
I went to work today, was my last day at work for a while, yey!!
I've come home at 5.30pm and took them both out for a run, she has definately changed shape today. Pups are still active and I've taken her temp for the first time at 6.30pm...was going to start today doing it 3 times a day at the same time. Her temp was 37.2 (99), she is acting strange but just very quiet. She got into the whelping box about an hour ago and sat and just stared at us for about 10 mins. Just acting wierd, she has still eaten and is sleeping at the moment. Ive looked at her vulva and she has lots of clearish discharge stringing from her. Ive not noticed this before with her so Im guessing this is her mucous plug?
I know we can never know but she had pups last litter on day 56 and her temp was 37.2 23 hours from giving birth but she was showing real labour signs, such as digging, crying, licking couch etc. But she did still pick at her food in the morning.
Amy
She's currently laid on the couch across the other side of the room, breathing very heavily but not quite panting. Pups are more lively tonight than they've ever been, I can see them moving around from across the room, even with her thick wavy coat! Just cleaned one side of her tummy, will do the other side when she decides to get up...theres no way she's gonna move soon lol, far too big and its too much effort lol.
Took her temp again and its still 37.2

Oooh ! how exciting - keep us updated.
What day did you start seeing pups move?
How's Tiegan this morning.
My breeder's girl did this once when the pups were getting ready for coming, she could see them moving into position, so maybe she's close. The pups came 24hrs later, almost to the housr.
How exciting, fingers crossed it all goes smoothly for you and Tiegan.

Hi Amy
How's it going?
Hi all, Piratebear, I startd to feel pups at around 6.5 weeks but she is very big. Last timeit was 7 weeks. I could clearly see them moving at around 7 weeks this time.
Well she slept very well last night with no other signs....didnt want to get up this morning and she's refused her breaky. Because her food had wormer in I added a little meat and she ate, which is what she did last time at 10 am and had her pups at 1pm so Im taking no notice of the eating thing with her lol.
She's took herself off out in the garden now and is happily laid on patio (Im watching her through patio doors)
Temp at 9.30am was still 37.3...sounds like she still needs to have her drop yet. Isn't it funny how doesn't matter how many times you read the book of the bitch or if you know what to do in your head before hand, you just forget it when things actually start lol. I read the stages of whelping 4 times over last night in the book of the bitch and the first thing Ive done this morning is read it again, mad or what?! My hubby thinks Im crazy lol
I'll give her an hour and half and if no other signs Ill just carry on as normal and take her for a little wander...looks like I wont be going anywhere for a few weeks now.
Watch she'll hold on to them until day 63...I do think the pups were moving into position, thats probs why they seemed so lively and she was acting a little strange. Apparently theyre meant to go really quiet now aren't they??
Will keep you all posted
Amy
pleased for you she held off having them. i suppose its like awoman towards the end, they feel very tired and heavy.
i know what you mean about reading, think i could recite them in my sleep. Hubby nearly freaked out when i said you had to get them breathing once out. Amaturs lol.

Oh how exciting, i shall keep an eye on your updates. :)
Yvonne x good luck
all the best amy she dont sound like shes going to long now! i recon the morning ;)
xxxx

my small breed bitch did a similar thing, the had what i thought was her temp drop (got to 37.3) on the saturday but then nothing so i assume this was when pups were moving into position she then whelped on the thursday. good luck x

good luck ..sounds like she is preparing herself.
OK at 4.30pm she happily ate all of her tea without anything added. She is acting perfectly normal but her temp is now 36.3.
Should I expect babies within the next 24 hours? Last time her temp went to 36.6 att 11pm and by 1pm she had her first puppy.
God I hope so, really hope she's not going to drag it out lol, what do you all think?
Amy
WL looks like you might be right lol, I do hope so :-)
So excited yet so nervous at the same time....lets hope it goes as smoothly as the last litter
Ooh how exciting !! keep us posted and good luck.

Maybe you won't be getting much sleep tonight! Better get the caffeine in!

oooh we might have puppies by breakfast time :) good luck
yeah well we will see, she says rolling her eyes!!! She's currently snoring her head off, little monkey (or should I say big fat hairy monster lmao)
Looks like I will be sleeping on the couch again and she will belaid next to me snoring. Pups are still moving but nothing like last night so Im confident theyve moved into place and her temp is still down, it is higher at 36.8 but still under 37. I really do hope she starts showing some proper signs soon.
I have read in quite a few places after googling that the vets should be contacted if she goes more than 24 hours after the temp drop without going into labour....is this what you breeders would do? I wish Tiegan would just read the bloomin books!!!
Oh and she just ate her 3rd meal hehe, awkward annie :-) :-) :-)

Would be so easy if they read the books we do! lol
Ooh,I have all fingers crossed for you - keep us updated!

Hi
Won;t be long before she goes, if she she's following pattern. Will sher havew babies by morning?
Good luck.

Just checking to see any updates, fingers crossed for you x
Absolutely nothing!! She had a lovely long sleep during the night, snoring like a baby while I was wide awake looking for any signs that they might be coming lol.
Her temp at 6.30am was 37.1 and she has eaten half of her breakfast. Still got plenty of cloudy stringy mucous. Acting completely normal at the moment lol
sounds like your girl wants to catch you off gaurd LOL the day as only just started ;0) shes got till midnight for me to be right LOL come missy get a move on haha...what day is she on now??
xxxx
lol WL, Im praying its today shes on day 58 but had them day 56 last time...I know that often means nothing though.
Ive put her in her box and told her to stay in there because my little boy has decided he will try to climb on her!!! and she just lies there and lets him!! Since putting her in the box, she has tried to rearrange the bedding, just a little. After reading this post
http://www.champdogsforum.co.uk/board/topic/118910.html which I should say was extremely helpful I have decided that we havent yet had the 'real' drop. I think she is having us on and will wait a little longer yet.
Will keep recording her temp at the same times each day and see what we get. I do hope you are right WL lol...I could really do with a bit of sleep, knowing babies are here and safe and she's not going to drop one in the garden or something lol.
Amy

Isn't that just typical, she will wait to get you just when you aren't looking. :)
Wont happen till she is ready, so relax and get some sleep.. :)
Yvonne x

I never bother with temperature checking. I would say she was breathing heavier due to her running around and her shape changing and the pups coming down. Would not be rushing her to the vets on day 58 myself.
Usually the pups go quiet before birth. Hope that all goes well in the next couple of days or so.
> I could really do with a bit of sleep, knowing babies are here and safe and she's not going to drop one in the garden or something lol.
You'll be lucky if you get any sleep once they're here :)
how is she doing? does it look like shes going to let me down LOL ??
xxxx
Hi WL, Im afraid she's definately going to let you down :-(
I have a feeling that her normal pregnancy temp is very low as all the readings have been between 36.3 and 37.3, which is why I thought we'd had the drop...it seems that I should be looking for a drop of less than 36, do people agree?
She's still eating and sleeping for England, in fact that is all she's doing, sleeping so with any luck this is the calm before the storm and she's sleeping to save her energy lol.
Will keep you all updated with her progress, I think Ill be safe sleeping in my own bed tonight and I will take her upstairs with me and keep an eye on her up there, maybe then I will get a bit of sleep before she decides to go into labour for real.
Maybe tomorrow? Or the next day, or the next lol
Amy

She must have been comparing notes with Inka who had us running after her from Saturday and didn't have pups until Wednesday morning.

LOL! NO! :-) But then, I have never found that taking temperature is a reliable indication anyway! And I never stress myself by even trying. I guess experience makes me rely on gut feeling - never fails! :-)
Haha, yes Barbara she's had us going since Sat night, looks like tommorrow may be the day. We had another relatively peaceful night last night, Temp this am is still 36.6, dont think Im even gonna bother with that any more lol. So far this morning she had flatly refused breakfast, tried to bury itin her box with all of her bedding then newspapers and then decided that my arrangement of her box wasn't quite good enough so she's shredded every piece of newspaper into inch pieces by her teeth and was digging for England, she's happy for now that her blankets are where she wants them and shes laid at myfeet crying.
She did the exact same things last time she was in labour...she started on the sat am, showed these signs all day, had quite a peaceful night then started again the next morning, contractions started at 1pm and we had first pup at 3pm, so like I said tommorrow will probably be the day.
my girl did the same with her paper and beding the day she had them :) so does sound like pups very soon ,and if shes crying she must have some pain?? so this is the start of it :) all the best i keep coming back to see hows shes doing! all the best.
xxxx

My moneys on today :)
This is exactly what my bitch did. Very different behaviour :)
Omg Im more scared now than when I went into labour myself lol...Im remaining calm for her sake, weve just been for a wander around the garden and we have had a strange poo (not we, she did haha), not runny but not quite the same as usual. She's still refusing food and keeps going to box and nosing and pawing papers and blankets about...her temp at 9.30am was down to 36.1...Im wondering if I just caught it on the way down cos it was higher at 7am so out of interest Im going to check it again in couple of hours and see how low it does actually go.
Wish me luck everyone, will keep you updated :-)
Amy
Oh poor Tiegan. Sounds like babies are moving. i'm with Claire, today you'll be up your armpits in placenta, nice lol. She'll be very obliging and start about 7 or 9pm just so you get any sleep. Get an afternoon nap in hehe.
Hope all goes well, i can't believe mine could be here at the end of next week.
We dont seem to be any further forward as yet, she's been in a very deep sleep for last 2 hours or so, temp was 36.2 an hour ago. Still not sure if this is the drop??!!Had a bit more digging, seems quite uncomfortable and has been turning quickly to back end the odd time...cant see any discharge or anything though. Id love to get a nap, but Ive got a 16 month old little boy here lol, not likely!!
He's getting shipped off to Grandmas as soon as she starts to contract and will stay there until she's finished :-) That way at least we wont have to get him out of bed to go to the vets early hours of the morning. Should she start during the night then Grandma is willing to sit in the house while he's asleep while we go to vets if needed. Thankgoodness for mums and mother in laws :-)
Theres still quite a lot of movement going on in there mind and her tummy is gurgling like mad...she sounds starving, poor girl :-(
This is the part where I feel so guilty I could cry cos I put her in this position :-( Not long and hopefully itll be over, then the hard work begins :-)

lol dont wish to alarm you but there were no real visible contractions (that i could see) with my bitch (1st litter & a big litter) she had what looked to me like 3 big contractions with pushing and 10 mins later 1st pup appeared so i'd have Grandma on full alert when panting starts :) good luck so exciting

Red Alert Granny!!....lol
I'd have gran come for tea with an overnight bag lol. You'll have your hands full with a baby as well. Give gran a big box of chocs and flowers with her bedroom key and six weeks supply of alcohol.
Thankgoodness for mums and mother in laws
I know what you mean.

Ahhh the last couple of days are always the worst aren't they? The long wait and worry nearly over then all the signs that lead us on. Good luck.

Its a bit like being a child at Christmas again isn't it..:))
Hope all goes well for you xx
Thanks everyone, Tina, I cant be anything but be patient! Its not like I can make her go any faster. We all know they will come when she's ready but it doesn't stop me being excited and nervous about it all and I'm just updating everyone with the progress!!!
She's slept quite heavily a lot of the day and when awake is panting but thats about it so far...think she'll go on till tomorrow. Looks like Im on the couch tonight :-)
Thanks again everyone you have all been very kind and helpful
Amy
No claire she isnt the same breed, very similar though and a different colour :-)
Last time it was clear that Tiegan was having contractions, they went on for 2 hours then she start to push and out came the first baby. Hopefully she'll give us some warning to ship my son off lol, sounds lovely that doesn't it!?
She is literally 2 mins by car so Im sure it wont be a problem and hubby is here now aswell

bless her here's hoping you get a little rest before she gets going properly :)
my girl kept me going from saturday and had them on thursday :)
i'm glad she gives you warning. good luck, we all wait with anticipation.
Just a little update, she was really bad during night...seemed that 1st stages kicked in properly around 5pm yesterday and she just gotworse as the night went on. Has been vomiting quite a lot and is still refusing food although she is drinking plenty which is good. Digging, panting and crying a little. She's very restless and cant get comfortable in any position and her tummy feels like its full of rocks!! Its very tense and rock hard.
I sure they should be here by the end of the day :-)
