Hi all,
This is my first litter,we are on day 48 - at what day do you usually see movement ? we have a very hairy breed!

Also, what disinfectant so you use for cleaning the room etc when in whlep?

I use Mistral, buy it in 4x5litre packs, for the whelping room floor.  The whelping box is cleaned with Virkon.

As to movement - I've had a bitch show no movement at all until the day before whelping.  They vary, but it's usually around week 7 or after.

I've felt them for the last week, she 61/2 wks now.  Felt them if I touched her belly, it ssubtle.  Think i saw them move yesterday when she was on her back.  Maybe she was dropping down a little as she's very quiet today and still in bed.

Didn't feel or see any pup movement :-( So looked forward to feeling puppies kick, however, all was made up when the pups arrived :-)

We think we have seen movement - but its hard to tell as her breathing is also quite heavy !

In the early days you dont see movement, you feel it.

Place the flat of your hand on one of her flanks while she is fully relaxed, be patient and you will ( at 7 weeks or so) feel something akin to a butterflys wings against your hand.
As the weeks progress this feeling gets more 'pushing' until near the end you can see and feel what lookes like a rugby scrum - all arms and legs- that is, of course if there is a good size litter.
The litter Ive just had looked like a fight in a hairy sack!
