hi guys
Help needed again i'm planning to go to an open show in may as I don't drive I know I can get there by train the thing is there is no breed classes so would have to going A.V.N.S.C which has only puppy and open as she will be 14mths I could only go in open do I enter this so I can go into any variety for novice or can I just enter any variety please help i'm so confused.com lol

Hi Nessa, yes you can go into AVNSC open but you could be up against half a dozen adults with JW's and ShCM's!! You don't need to go in AVNSC at all, if you prefer you can just enter AV Novice.  Really it depends on if you just want to enter for some practice for you both or if you want to win!  If you just want the practice and the experience for you both then go for both classes as long as you don't mind not being placed in AVNSC Open.  Which show is it so I can have a look at the schedule?

hi lorna the show is the chertsey & district canine society open show held @ montem leisure centre on the 18th may

If it were me I wouldn't go in the AVNSC Open class but then I have a slow maturing breed who wouldn't fair well in such a class at 14m.  

If you feel the practice would be good then go for it .. such a shame you don't have any better classes for you

I have just looked a the schedule..I would say go in class 124 AV NSC Terrier Graduate, which would be a better bet than open for a 14 month old.

If there is a graduate class like Lexy said then go for that. If there are only two AVNSC classes it usually mean they don't expect a lot of entries in them so I wouldn't worry at all about going in open. (And I certainly don't worry about Champions -in AVNSC it's pretty much pot luck as it's mix n match and some judges will prefer some breeds over others and a Champion of one breed may not even be placed at all.) If you DON'T go in AVNSC you are effectively not entering a breed class and then can't challenge for BOB.

You are right I didn't see the graduate class eyes defiantly need testing lol. So if I put her in graduate if we win ( not saying we will lol ) can I withdraw from the AV

Personally I would just enter Any Variety Not Separtely Classified Terrier Graduate but thats just me....If you went in an ordinary Any Variety class you could withdraw.
What will happen is, the winners of the 3 AV NSC Terrier classes will compete against each other t0 get Best AV NSC terrier(the same as if it had been breed classes(Best of Breed). If you dont get Best AV NSC terrier I would not withdraw..only withdraw if you win best AVNSC TRR, so you can compete in your group.

I'd do AVNSC Graduate and AV novice, then if you won Best AVNSC you could withdraw from AV, and if not, it's another class for some practice.

Have done A.V.N.S.C graduate and AV novice and see what happens either way we are going to have fun as kept my shows close to home so am being very adventrous for me.
