We have an outdoor run and enclosure for our dogs and cats. Its cleaned and disinfected twice daily and trays cleaned and changed daily. Poop scooped all day pretty much.

In the summer we still seem to get a fair few flies whatever we do.

What do you do to repel? Get rid? control?

I have a friend who breeds horses and dogs and she says you never pull cobwebs down, leave them to build up and the spiders will take care of the flies. If like me you're terrified of spiders then I'd hang some old fashioned fly paper up (out of reach of the dogs). Apart from not wanting to use sprays etc around the dogs I don't think much works outside.

If you can stand the smell hang some garlic around the outside of your enclosure!  It is a natural fly repellent!! :)

What you need is Red Top Fly Trap, it's used by poultry keepers, and if it can keep flies at bay with hen's ,it should have no problems with cats and dogs, I will warn you though, it stinks !. It's a sort of small bag held open at the top with a plastic rim, you hang it up to attract flies, they crawl in and drown, on the plus side it's non-chemical and lasts for about three months.

eeek noooo I've used one of those red top traps and flies were a better option! the smell was unbelieveable after only a couple of weeks. mine went in bin before neighbours came to lynch me

Well I don't know what you can do for outside, but If any flies get inside I have this fly zapper that looks like a tennis racket - its fantastic - you can use it on all types of bugs, wasps, gnats, flies, spiders - its a god send in the Summer when you have the windows and doors open.

You could of course use it outside - but the um neighbours might think you a little strange running around looking like you are playing tennis with no ball.
