DIZZY, what is your problem now, i say sorry to you yet YOU still bring my name into anything to do with dogs that are not kc.
Dizzy do you love to argue, as it seems that way to me, either that or somone has touched a nerve.
My dogs are not mongrels.
NOW PLEASE JUST BACK OFF ME AND LEAVE ME ALONE.

i think it takes guts to say how you do things and admit you would have done it another way had you have known.
At least Debbie and Cleo IS asking advice , and not just thinking " oh well"
She may not have bred how others would chose to have , but she HAS , and pups are on the way , lets pull together and help out.Isnt that what this sight is for ? helping other owners? regardless of rights and wrongs , help should be at hand..and advice. We have all advised that we would not breed non KC reg dogs, and Deb has said if she could go back she wouldnt, and she would have waited.
So lets offer more advice, less criticsm :D

Sorry I have only had time to read some of the posts about the original question i.e.breeding age of bitches
I think there is some confusion here between the law of the land and the K.C. Code of Ethics
BREEDING AND SALE OF DOGS (WELFARE) ACT 1999
states for both Licenced and Unlicenced Breeders that a bitch cannot be mated under 12 months of age.
The Kennel Club states in its General Code of Ethics
item 6) Owners agree not to breed from a bitch in any way which is deleterious to the bitch or the breed
As most breed clubs now have a code of ethics incorporated into their rules and regulations pertaining to their specific breeds which are endorsed by the K.C.I think that covers and gives clear indication at what age specific breeds can be bred from as far as the K.C. is concerned.
Then again if unregistered bitches are bred from why care what the K.C. says or codes of ethics none of the above applies to people who breed for no other reason other than to produce puppies to sell much
the same as a farmer produces eggs or the bakery produces bread.
These are just my personal opinions and are not mean`t to get at anyone.I am proud of the puppies my bitches have given me over the past 20 years
(I only breed to keep my line and have kept a puppy from every litter, averaging a litter every 3 years or so) therefore I want them to have a registered lineage
hopefully to be remembered in the history of the breed
This is ofcourse a bonus on top of living with 2/3 generations of my doggy family who are first and foremost companion house dogs.
I can well understand people getting hot under the collar when they see and hear about people in their own breed taking everthing out of it and putting nothing back in.
I`ll close now as I am starting to go off track.
Regards Carole

Very well put Penny, putting something in as well as taking out, deserve more than a 'Penny for them' thoughts :D

Hi Nina I am a nice man. Just fed up with Debbie because she asked for advice then does her best to argue and fight and make a fool of people who are offering her advice by trying to ridicule them.
Sorry for shocking you.
Regards Mick.

bec-you need to grow up-it reminds me of the school yard!! as for all your petty threats re naming unethical breeders-name them!!!!!!---ive nothing whatsoever to hide-and if its the tacking of pups you mean -yes it happens --we are trying our best to breed it out, --by tacking it means a simple stitch to hold the wrinkle back while the pup grows into its head, the tacks are in for around 10 days,-this is NOT AN OPERATION!!-NO SKIN IS REMOVED-!!
all breeds have problems, the sharpei is a fabulous dog to own-theycan run with the best of them thanks-so if thats your best shot [BIG DEAL] -GET ON BREEDING YOUR CROSSES!!!
