We are looking for a short haired Vizsla puppy. We live in London, so ideally you would be in the south east/south west. We are very keen to find a breeder with a young family or grandchildren, because we have a soon-to-be seven year old son, and so would like a puppy that is well used to children. Our dog will be a family pet, not a gundog or a show dog, so provided the puppy is healthy and has a sound pedigree, we won't mind if it's not a future Crufts champion in all points. Size does matter though! Are your puppies hip-scored? We do want a dog that will grow within the breed standard guidelines on size. We don't mind whether we end up with a dog or a bitch, as long as it's gentle, affectionate and not of a nervous disposition. Please call Pippa Day on 0207-223 1354 or e-mail us on aidanpippa@aol.com

Try searching under Vizsla on Champdogs Breeders Section - lot of breeders details there. Make sure you have done your research on the breed though - they need alot of exercise and are very family (in fact, usually one person) dogs. They hate being excluded from family life. Very sensitive and can't take any harsh treatment (verbally, as obviously physical doesn't come into it) at all. Difficult to determine whether a young pup will be confident etc - that will come into its own later. Definitely chat to a few breeders for good advice. They are wonderful dogs, but need good handling. Usually good with kids, but be advised that they are so highly trainable that they pick up wrong habits just as quick - kids don't always listen to what you are telling them to do!!!

Good luck
