About a week ago this particular pup had the very occasional snort like a pig but over the past few days I noticed she was doing it more. Just been to the vets to have her checked out and nothing is showing up. No temp, mucous or oral deformaties. There is a niggling worry it may be megaesophagus but I have no experience of it other than knowing that it exists but I am at a loss as to what it could be. Vet wants to see her in a week for re-assesment. Do any of you have any experience if it and do you know if snorting is an early symptom. She is eating, drinking and gaining weight perfectly normally which makes me think it can't be that but we are at a loss as to what is going on.
if its the same kind of thing 1 of our dogs had pup could be sneezing its not like the normal kind and nothing to worry about if it is that :0)

could she be allergic to something?
Ive just been off googling away and the closest that it could be is a reverse sneeze, but it isn't just a one off episode. She seems to be doing it every few minutes. She is in no distress and is still a little live-wire and even does it while still playing. It sounds distgusting but it's like when you have cattarh and you do that thing when you suck it down the back of your throat to clear your sinuses.

Sounds like reverse sneezing to me. I have had it in many dogs and every single time have managed to cure it by changing the food or treats. My oldest Papillon starts doing it if he is fed dry complete food (even if soaked) or if given a piece of biscuit (such as in human's biscuits :) ) etc. I now feed him wet only and it stopped. Interestingly enough he always has the odd episode when my MUM comes to visit -and only when she has had a cup of coffee and a couple of biscuits! LOL.
yes sounds that way to me "reverse snezzeing" i couldnt remember what it was called ,i posted acoulpe of years ago regarding this and it turned out to be that ,it can last afew mins go and start again ,but nothing to worry about my girl did grow out of it but she did it more when she got excited :0)

I can't remember what breed you have.
Mine get the back of their pallet stuck sometimes and its like reverse sneezing, if no tthe same, could pup have a dry mouth or something if not as others have said.

Doesn't sound like MG, how big is the uvula, it may be quite large.

May be a different noise than I have experienced but would you say it is like a honking sound. I have had this before and it was a mild case of what I would describe as a nasal infection/cold/catarrah. My Vet gave me a powder (bit like a Eucalyptus type of product) which I had to sprinkle on their food. Whilst they were eating they would be snuffling it up their noses. Very simple. Could that be it I wonder. How about a little bit of Olbas oil around their bedding at night time?
