i have an 11 month old cane corso who has been in thehealth wars from day one.Just returned from vets today as louis had developed a small perfectly round lump on his elbow.ITS ABOUT an INCH IN DIAMETER hard annd not attached to anything underneath. The top is crusty and has been bleeding wher louis has been scratching it.he is going in for surgery tomorrow, and obviously the lump will be sent for biopsy, thats all they can tell me at present.can anyone put my mind at rest with a similar scenario that turned out ok or give me any info on malignant melanoma which ,if it is cancer, will be the most probable cause, according to descriptions ive just been reading on various sites.Any info or reasurance would be greatly appriciated . viki.

Hi, I hope this reassures you a bit, one of mine developed a lump at the side of the neck, the vet said not to worry about this and to leave it, so we did, about 6 months later while on holiday, I noticed blood coming from this, so went to the nearest vet who lanced the lump, it was a cyst, but when I got home and went to my own vet he said it would probably fill up again so I had it removed, the cyst by this time had grown quite a lot so 5/6 stitches were needed, but once the fur grew back you would never know the dog had any problems at all, and everything was fine. Will keep fingers crossed for you.

hi my boxer had a small hard lump appear at 12 months, it was a histioctytoma which is a beign growth quite common in younger dogs, didn't have it removed though as it caused no problem and disappered about 8 weeks later. (had the lump biopsed) lets hope your lump is the same as i am sure he is far too young for anything nasty. fingers crossed
