Just wondering whether anymore people have used this since it was mentioned a number of months ago and what do they think of it? Was thinking of buying some

wow, a mindreader! I was just trying to remember what this product was called to look it up. I was thinking of buying some too but seem to recall that when I saw it on offer it was quite a price...would be very interested in feedback on this please

It's about £25 but if it's as good as they say it's worth it.

I have three guys to use it on...that's why I winced a little at the price :)
I agree that compared to a visit to the vet this is cheap and far less intrusive for the dog, but I was just a little jumpy reading the website--check out Pet of the month and the comments on the Goldendoodle and its 'hybrid vigour'...I just wondered what their angle was.
Also, I was interested to read that it's mainly grapefruit seed. Isn't grapefruit juice is contraindicated by antihistamine--so it can't be perfectly safe in every circumstance?

Right!
I have bought this product and after a whole months use on 8 dogs -I have decided that...
If you have dogs with cement-like tartar then it will loosen it so that brushing or instruments will get it off
but.......
If you want to use it to keep good teeth clean it has no effect at all.
I brush all mine with an electric toothbrush and they have no plaque build up but often have furry scummy teeth, so, I wanted this product to keep this at bay...it doesnt.
On my friends Lhasas with 'concrete' on their teeth it does chip off easily after a fortnight on PLgel.
So it doesnt appear to be a preventative just a reasonable cure.
I have started using it on my older boy (11 and a half) he has always had great teeth but recently got a build up of tartar on the back teeth, his breath was also starting to smell. Have been trying to remember to use it twice a day but truthfully only remember once. I bought the natural one ( really strong smelling peppermint which makes him sneeze) as the salmon oil one has to be kept in fridge. Main problem is remembering to do it when they have not eaten or drank for 30 mins and then witholding the same for 30mins. Breath definitely fresher, I have yet to brush the back teeth but can see that it has had an impact as I touched it with my nail and it came away.
I had it reccomended by several friends, yes it's pricey but I would prefer that than putting them under GA.

thank you Sawheaties and tooolz, that's helpful to know. Can I ask whether you bought the spray or the gel? I'm a bit reluctant to try the spray on my oldest boy since he seems to have an aversion to them.
I like the idea of an electric toothbrush for the dogs, which could work for the other two but the oldest boy goes crazy at the sound of a little whirring thing--don't know why he is that way, but I'm not about to arm wrestle him into submission.

I was wondring about that too, think my Pom's wd prefer the gel?

I think we will go for the gel and try the salmon oil--not sure how much they will go for peppermint. Sawheaties and tooolz, do you rub it on their teeth and gums or do you try the peanut butter apporach?
I have the gel, the thought of a spray or an electric tooth brush would finish my old boy off!!! :) I also think you can control where you put it better with the gel.
My friend bought the salmon one and that has to be refridgerated. Very quick delivery.
I put a bit on a teaspoon ( just read instructions and I am being too liberal with it) and use my finger to rub it into the tooth by the gum line; the dog then spends some time licking it's lips which is what is supposed to happen.
I'm glad I've tried it, like all products it will work for some and not others.
I have just looked on a well known internet auction site and there are several bottles of this from USA at a much better price, however some people may not be happy not getting it straight from supplier, just thought I would give you the nod.

I used the pepermint gel and splodged a coin sized blob on finger then pushed the finger up to the back molars depositing it on both sides.
Re: the electric toothbrush, I start them off early and none mind it in the least just not fond on the front incisors being done. I only put the brush in for seconds to start with then work up. Just dont make the mistake i made of trying a new 'Sonic' model...they did not like that.
I will say that judges often do a double take when they open my veterans mouth, she has teeth like a puppy, and in a toy breed, pretty much unheard of.
I started this regime after I had one 4 year old bitch needed a dental ( no teeth removed thank goodness) at over £300.... I said never again!

I bought the gel (I thought it might be easier to just to rub on rather than spray) and have been using it on two of our older Frenchies for about 3 weeks, there's def. an improvement but still have some work to do right at the back!! I think I'll try the spray next time as I find the gel very difficult to squeeze out, I keep it upside down in the fridge!!

Me too, and like you, I keep it upside down in the fridge. I did once forget and left it out of the fridge. It was much easier to sqeeze out when it was warmer. Not sure if they have a stand at Crufts but if I see them I might suggest they start to package it in more flexible bottles and see what they say! Otherwise I think the product works quite well.

Thanks guys. Will buy some of this then tonight for my mum's Pom's. The Spanish I never ever have a problem with and they still have pearly whites into old age.

I've been trying it and it has helped my 9 year old, though it's not perfect, I may need to do a bit of working chipping some time. It's quite hard to get out like others have said, I shake the bottle upside down with the lid on (!) then leave it on its side while I hook a bit out with my finger and put on one side of his mouth, then repeat with the other side. I must admit I'm not strict about taking water up for 30 minutes before and after though I try to pick a time when he's unlikely to go off for a drink, like before a walk or before bedtime.

I agree.! The main problem with the gel is getting it out of the bottle. I have the mint flavoured one that does not have to be kept in the fridge, but it is hard work trying to use it, especially now as I am half way through the bottle. Think a better design is called for, eg put it in a tube like toothpaste .?

Thank goodness other folks struggle to get it out of the bottle, I thought it was just me!!
